john would be a great choice for mayor.he's a successful business owner and. is very aware of the projects that need to be done to make downtown boone thrive.i have known john for over 15 years and i have always enjoyed his progressive views and dry wit.john loves boone and has demonstrated that by his many charitable works and his support for local shops.we need a person with his insights and experiences to give local leadership a needed breath of fresh air.

Great, he clean up that ghetto that starts at Red Carpet Inn and stretches all the way down to Hardees. Prime commercial real estate that looks like something out of Detroit. Disgraceful.

we could have someone who owns and runs a successful business that provides jobs for residents. or we could vote for andy ball, a career politician who has been mentored by loretta clawson. Or we could have mr moretz, who has such a limited understanding of how government and zoning works that he complains to the town council about noise from his longtime neighbors who preceded him in business waking him up.

If Mena really wanted to 'change' the town he would have ran for Town Council (where he actually gets to vote on the issues) when he lost his last campaign for Mayor. Nothing to see here.

I always see Mr. John Mena breaking the Dog leash law running with his two pets. If elected can he respect the local laws and orders set by the hard working past administration? I sense disrespect when I witness people break the set laws in the community. I also would ask, might the be any pending illegal actiity brewing on the back burner? I would welcome an extensive back ground check on all the candidates running for the Mayors office.
IlIegal actiity? What? Considering that both my dogs are quite old now and my big boy Keno is mostly blind, I don't feel they are a threat to the general populous. I wish my son would listen as well as my babies. That all you have for me? Sorry if you think my puppies pose such a risk to our community.

A Law is a Law!!! As seen on the current TOB Mayor's window. A leash is mainly to keep the pet from wondering into the path of a car, bike of a pedistrian. They haven't invented a remote control device for a pet yet - if so leashes would be obsolete. I don't want to be driving a car and all of a sudden your or someone elses pet runs out in front of me and DOA. Mr. John Mena I sense some ignorant rude smart-ass replies coming from you. Why can't you just come clean and say "Yes Sir, I broke the law" I will pay the $50 fine. Honesty is Key my friend. Myself or anybody else does'nt have a clue if your pets are mean, nice or scared if myself or anybody else crosses there paths. I also doubt that you can tell me ahead of time a dogs age and if a dog is going to like you when you approach it. Plus as a roll model resident of the TOB. When seasonal students move in or back and they see you and your dogs without a leash - What do they do and think? Wow that looks fun - lets go get a pooch and take a walk. times it by 100 - no leash needed... If the Law wasn't needed then why do we have it? You have to look at the big picture my friend. If you were a dog would you want your owner to run the sidewalks/traffic with you without a leash? If I was a blind dog a leash would be a no brainer

I feel that this law is very discriminatory toward dogs and should also include cats. Why is it that only dogs need to be on a leash? I see cats out at all hours roaming the neighborhood unsupervised and causing all sorts of mischief. Fornicating at all hours of the night keeping me awake, tearing up garbage bags and pooping in my flower bed are all reasons to have a leash law for cats. Why is it that cats can run free at all hours and dogs are to be put in bondage? I will pay the $50 fine when this law i amended to include cats.

Can we add kids to the leash law? I'm tired of 200 pound 15 year oles knocking me over in walmart. Their parents are too damn fat to keep up. And they wonder why people keep putting condoms in their cart.

Really folks?!?! The TOB is at a crossroads and the best we can do is challenge the strongest mayoral candidate over how he walks his dog? We deserve the mess the TOB is in if that's the crux of our initial vetting of a candidate. Can't wait to hear that Mr. Harmon is a racist because he owns a confederate history store. That's another robust topic for conversation. And Andy Ball's education...who gives?!? If he is the best man for the job based on his track record who cares if he graduated kindergarten or has a PhD...so long as he isn't lying about his achievements.
I commend these three men for putting themselves and their families on public display and subjecting themselves to this ridiculousness. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...Let's focus on the REAL issues people!

John Mena, thank you for taking on this ridiculously biased and morally stunted community. What a task and we see no one better suited to take this town back than you, with gusto! You have more than the intelligence, experience, talent and compassion to take us around the corner into a progressive balanced and harmonious place of being. Shame on you Boone for settling all these years on complacency, greed and apathy to get you by.
John we will support you to victory...going to be fun! Love the real locals.

John is a so called business owner oh which has zero experience in governmental management. He wasn't serious about the first run and so far its currently a joke on his 2nd. He's an arigant tempered man who only cares about himself. Who wants that to represent Boone? The shoe doesn't fit - it's just a pablicity stunt only to show of his ego vindetta. I need not waste anymore of my time on this riducous subject.

I am sorry that you are so complacent in the running of this town. I feel that Boone deserves much more than what we've been given. I assure you that taxes money's will be spent on worthwhile development and infrastructure improvements instead of paying attorneys hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight development. Peruse the minutes of meetings for the past 25 years and you will see that they are still "talking" about the same old problems. And I am very proud to state that I am not a "politician" nor do I even care for most. I, like most Americans, could care less who is in office as long as they are working to better the lives of the citizens that put them in office. Not happening.

so Mr. Mena, where do you stand on the recent Board of Elections activity both locally and statewide? you seem to have been quite silent on this issue. as a voter, I'd like to know your position.

Mr .Mena can you address the questions asked about you concerning the position of Mayor for the Town of Boone? Your vague replies seem to stray of track. To sit on the ballot and not show any activity - what are we to think? Other forums mention that you've pulled out of the race.

I agree. We need a career politician like Andy Ball who has never had a job other than part time bartender and who has made a living taking people's tax money as he is too stupid to graduate from college.
