i've been reading through these comments from everyone and anyone whose says that dr. mcanallen is a ''pill pusher'' you clearly have no idea, unless you were one of the seeking addicts who he turned away. i'd be surprised to hear from any one of you that you've never encountered or known someone with an alcohol or dug problem or even an uncontrollable illness.

hi, i'm his daughter and i'll go ahead and let you know what is actually going on.
no, our family is not in las vegas at the moment. my father is in rehab because he was having trouble with alcohol comsumption. he wasn't drunk all day everyday as many would picture an ''alcoholic''. he made the wrong choices at the wrong time, to simply put it.
for the past year, my father has been making arrangements to practice with another doctor in las vegas, whom is wonderful. currently my father is in florida getting the help he needs to start living a better life and get things back on track.
thank you to all who see him as a drug pusher and continue spreading mean things about him, but i guess we all can't be grateful.
thank you even more to those of you who really seemed to understand my father and the joy his patients brought him.

Thank you Sarah, I remember you from our church ATP. I support your father and family no matter what you are going thru. He treated me as a person above being a patient. Tell him Dennis says hi and I miss him.

Sarah, I loved your DAD as a kind loving physician. He never overprescribed anything for me and I never asked him too. I would never ask a
doctor or any professional to risk their job for me. I know there are people out there who abuse medicine but they will have to answer for that.Just let your Dad and Mom know I have them in my prayers and you are a good daughter. I saw his family pictures posted on the wall and could see where his heart belonged. Keep up the good work and keep the faith,May God bless and keep you through this rough patch of life.

I agree that there will never be another doctor like Dr. McAnallen. In my opinion he is the best doctor I have ever known. I am at a loss as to who to see now. Recommendations? I tried the new physician at Primedical but I just do not see it working out. All of a sudden a medication that I have been REQUIRED to take for 27 years and another non-narcotic Rx (originally prescribed by another Dr.)that has worked well for 10 years are now taboo and toxic. It's all very disappointing and confusing, as well. Best of luck to Dr. TJ. Obviously, he will be missed by many.

Thanks Sarah for sharing with us the news with your family. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. Your father was one of the finest doctors that has ever treated me. I will certainly miss him because when you saw him you knew that you were being seen as not just another name on the chart but as a real person. Anyone that ever made the mistake of thinking that DR. TJ was a pill pusher left very quickly knowing they has made a serious mistake. From five years of being treated by him I know how much his family means to him and how proud he is to have his family's support. Best of luck to all of you and I will certainly miss him as a doctor. I know he will be missed by all of his patients.

I am a patient of TJ's and when I went to make an appointment, I was told that he had left for personal reasons. I was making an appointment for dizzy spells and I was told that the other doctor who I was making an appointment with does not treat chronic pain or give out chronic pain meds. I was confused as to why I was being told this when I was making an apointment for dizzyness, not pain and it is easy to tell from my charts and medical history that I have an aversion to taking any medication at all, much less pain meds. Naturally, I came to the conclusion that the personal reason TJ left must be due to pain meds and I assume that is why so many others have also came to that conlusion. I wish TJ the best and hope that he overcomes whatever personal problems he is dealing with right now.

I know personally that Dr. TJ DID NOT give pain meds out. I went to him with a tattoo gone bad and had a serious infection. I asked him for something for the pain (it was majorly painful) and his comment was, "You didn't get pain meds when you got the tattoo. Deal with it." Word for word! I still loved him as a doctor. I trusted him with everything. He would listen to me. I know someone with an alcohol problem, and if this is what TJ had, I would guess he was a "functioning" alcoholic like my friend. I would never have guessed it, but like many jobs, his is one that is stressful, and it wouldn't surprise me if he drank to release. That is what my friend did, but he, too, has received help. I know Doc can help himself. He is proud of his family, so if that gal is truly his daughter, I'm sure that he is thankful for the truth to be told. The rumors are floating all over. Tell your dad that the hospital in Ashe County is talking bad about him. The ER nurse there asked me who my primary doctor was, and when I told her, she said he lost his license from improprieties. If that isn't the case, isn't that a law suit for slander???? Sick um, Dr. TJ (No pun intended) I'll sorely miss you (Again no pun intended) Hey - I got another tattoo!

I just went to North Carolina Medical Licensing Board. Under the Bi-Monthly tab and under "Surrenders" - this is what I found. Doctor TJ is no longer in practice - whether or not he will be able to get another license is a question only for the board. People - it is information made to the public - check it out for yourselves. I still loved him!

Well having worked with Dr. TJ since he came to Boone. I never knew him to prescribe pain medications any more than any other doc really. The only thing I can say is that I found some of his interactions with the nurses inappropriate at times. He was very flirty and that might just be his personality. But I feel he crossed the line many times without even trying to hide it.

That's not only an assumption, but it's rude.

Look TJ is known all over town for his pushing of pain meds. Maybe the booze clouded his judgement with his pain Rx distribution. I'm not going to make excuses for the guy, but you don't loose your licence for playing by the book. I feel that TJ got what he deserved. Peoples lives where in his hands and if Sarah is right and he was doing all this drinking and prob pills too, then I'd say he got what was comming to him. Stop making excuses for the reality of the situation.
