I used to work with the Todd's over in Ankeny, mixing and loading chemicals into their cropdusters and occasionally a job for flying banners would come up. The kind Todd's used were custom banners that you would attach the letters to a large, "aerated" signboard of sorts. Lots of holes for wind to easily pass through. This banner looked solid and I can understand the 'twisting' like a kite if there were no perforations for the air to move through the sign. At any rate, too bad the young man couldn't have simply released the cable to the banner and recovered his stall. Condolences to the family members.

If the banner was hitting the corn stalks, like they said, he would have been to low to recover his stall.
The real truth will come out later, so we can not judge whether it was pilot error. He might have lost engine power.
Funeral arrangements are being made with Peinert Funeral Home in Whitehouse, Ohio.
CONDOLENCES TO ALL FAMILY MEMBERS !!!!!
