I lived in Bono back in the mid to late 90's . I moved off because my work relocated. The other day I came back to check on some things and had a little time to kill, so the wife and I took the kids by to see where we used to live. I was glad to see lots of new houses and subdivisions, but I could not get over how trashy the whole town looked. It was like one big trash dump. What happened? I did'nt look near that bad when we lived there. There were a few places, like maybe on or two on a street, but now it was a complete 180. There were only one or two neat ones on a street. I really liked living there in those days and would have moved back if I could, but that day I thought otherwise. Please take pride in your yards and homes. It could be keeping good people from moving there or coming back.

Which area did you visit?

I agree that people should take pride in their homes and yards. EVEN IF YOU ONLY RENT. I own my home, but we live near some rental properties. A lot of the time the people there don't keep the place as clean as it should be. I understand that apartments have someone that comes and mows, but the tenants are responsible for keeping junk out of their own yards.

On the other hand though, it is the middle of winter. Most of us aren't exactly out doing our best yard work this time of year. Even I am guilty of this. During the warmer months my yard is always green and clean.:) At the moment though, it could use some TLC. But it's just too cold.

Please revisit us this summer. I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I drove around Carson, Alta, and Michael. Then up Main to Deborah. I understand its winter and its hard to get outside and do yard word and that may have been some of it, but there were a few that looked as if July was the last cleaning they got. There were houses that I know are not rentals and the siding was falling off and it looked like they cleaned the back of their truck out in the front yard then forgot about it. I'm glad to see you care enough for your home. Keep up the good work and maybe it will rub off.

I have to say that every town has parts that are drowning, but even the new subdivisions have some horrible yards and people that should keep there garages closed. It would be great if the city of Bono would actually enforce some of the rules they have and take the time to print on fliers!!!

With the Bono police dept. they have NOW,what do you expect? With the exception of the police chief FAT A__ Lance, the only thing these young punks know how to do is ride around in their cars and hand out speeding tickets. Forget about them being human and actually CARING about Bono. Lance of course just plays his computor games in his car and doesn' know or care what is happening in Bono.

when did you live here? I live in that area and am constantly telling my kids to pick up the yard of their toys and bikes b/c it makes our house/neighborhood look bad. As for the siding missing we got that bad wind storm a few months back and lotsof us had damage. Ours was repaired but i noticed the other day we had a piece down again from the weather. Thanks for the critique we will try to do better b/c we do want good people in our neughborhoods not the trash we seem to be getting lately.(mostly in apts who dont care)

Bono is a prime example of a town that lost it leadership. At one time businessmen, farmers, and educated people were on the city council. They were successful and thus knew how to make good descisions. When they were replaced with factory workers, housewives, and high school dropouts you see the results.

I have lived in bono all my life and have seen some of the trashy yards you are talking about but most of the people in this town take care of thier property. Just because some people are slobs, does not mean we all are. And another thing, has anybody seen how bad the ditches are by the railroad tracks? It has trees growing in it and parts of it is filled with trash. No wonder people in this town have to worry about flooding.

I live in Bono and rent a duplex but we have worked hard on our flower beds and yard. I do agree that most of Bono has run down. It would help so much if we had city officials that cared about our town. They have an ordinance that non running vehicles cannot be parked in the yard but there are some houses that have had vehicles for 10 yrs sitting in their yard. It's time for people to step up and clean up our town.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Taurus

As Mars turns retro, emotional tension makes you feel as though you're walking on eggshells. The temperature has risen by several notches, making the situation at home more fraught. Better to clear the air quickly and cleanly than to sulk and brood in ways that simply prolong the agony.
