The report says:
A 20-year-old man will be sentenced June 27 on a first-degree murder conviction for the brutal beating death of a Bonner Springs store manager. A Wyandotte County District Court jury on Tuesday convicted Robert Haberlein of Kansas City, Kan., of killing Dollar General manager Robin Bell during a robbery on Nov. 11, 2005. Her badly-beaten body was found in the store after she failed to come home from work. Haberlein was the only defense witness, but jurors didn't believe him when he recanted earlier statements implicating him in the crime. Haberlein was 17 at the time of the crime and was tried as an adult. John Backus of Bonner Springs is also charged with first-degree murder, and a 17-year-old girl who testified in previous hearings may be tried as a juvenile.
