In his column called "The Secret Life of John Negroponte; Brady Bond Scam Redux; Why Did NORAD Stand Down on 9/11?," political and military analyst Al Martin asks the question -- why wasn't General Richard Myers called to testify before the 9/11 Coverup Commission? And more importantly why was NORAD told to stand down?

Retired Navy Lt. Commander Al Martin, author of "The Conspirators: Secrets of an Iran Contra Insider" writes, "The 9-11 Debacle continues.Interim FBI Director Thomas Pickard and former FBI Director Louis Freeh talked about the infamous 1998 FBI memo, wherein the FBI said it had intelligence and recognized the possible threat of domestic airliners being hijacked by terrorist groups and then crashed into office buildings. Thomas Pickard had mentioned this because it was a memorandum that had later been given to John
Ashcroft. "As a result of this memorandum, as Freeh pointed out and as I remembered at the time, the Clinton Regime did actually do something about it," Martin continues. "Ashcroft is trying to claim,ďWell, they never did anything about that memorandum.Ē Thatís not true. After this memorandum came to light, the Clinton regime instituted an extensive upgrade in security protocols, including an upgrade in NORADís status around the major cities, and an increase in NORADís capability to dispatch aircraft and to escort or make contact with civilian aircraft that had flown off course. It also upgraded the authority of NORAD to give its pilots the ability to shoot down civilian aircraft without any further authority or orders from a higher source.

"Often Iíve been asked on radio shows,'Why, then, with all these protocols being in place -- why were all these protocols, at the direction of the White House, circumvented on 9/11?' Therein lies the
question that nobodyís asking."

I agree with John commenting on Jul 28 2010 because he has to be my brother. We heard this story many times from Mom (especially the part about being so low you could see his belt buckle). The Shawnee Journal Herald reported at the time that Ben Nicks a lifetime Shawnee resident and B-24 pilot/instructor was on the steps of the St. Joseph Catholic Church rectory at Flint St. and Johnson Dr. in Shawnee talking to the Monsignor when he saw the pane flying very low. Shortly after that they saw smoke and knew that the plane had crashed. The Monsignor and Ben took off for the crash site and administered first aid to the survivors.

In the 1990's a friend bought a house 1 block East of Antioch and the crash site and was investigating the crash. Her young son at the time reported seeing a "soldier" in his closet. They had other very strange experiences to report as well. She dropped the investigation shortly after this and other disturbing incidents convinced her that she should cease the investigation.

I wrote articles about the crash for The Shawnee Journal Herald (which I owned) and Sun Publications in Overland Park. The pilot's name was Kenny Keech. He lost an arm but didn't die in the crash. I interviewed him for the first story, and tried to interview him for the second, but his wife said he had become deeply depressed after the first interview and asked that I please never call again. He was living in Texas at the time. The second article related to the fact that the bomber crash had scared the daylights out of a 2-year-old boy who lived in the neighborhood. to get him over his fear of planes, his parents began taking him to watch airplanes take off. He later joined the air force and became chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, Gen. Richard Myers. I wish I could remember the dates of my articles. The Sun article had to have been written right after Gen. Meyers was named as chairman of the joint chiefs.

Can't add much except that when I was about 8 and just a few months after the crash we moved from Mission to Merriam in a house on Slater, just about where the parking lot for the Merriam pool is now (much of the area between there and "downtown" Merriam has now been cleared for a park). Our home had tall trees surrounding it, and was set on somewhat high ground ... about the same height as where the crash occurred several blocks north. the sellers of our house told us that the plane clipped the tall trees as it flew across. I remember when we had moved in, driving to the crash area, and some few fragments were still visible in the yards.

I met a gentelman at the Olathe Commemorative Air Force open house this weekend who was home on leave and saw the B-29 crash. He said the pilot was buzzing his house, his wife was waving in the front yard and he lost control and crashed. He said the Merriam musume has information and articles regarding the crash. i took his picture in front of the B-29.

Re B-24 crash 7/26/1944. I was 3 yrs old & living in Merriam near old (original) Shawnee Mission H.S. Plane came very low over my house while I was in front yard. It continued up the street pulling up slightly to clear the high school then banked right & flew over trees & out of sight towards little town of Merriam (next to railroad tracks present interstate hiway). My aunt rushed out of house & grabbed me saying "He's going to crash". Shortly after that we saw column of black smoke in the distance. My mother came home & drove us all to crash site. There was debris in streets & damaged house with plane on its belly in a clear area with firemen around. Two bodies wrapped in parachutes were by the plane. Pilot Kenneth Keech lost an arm & was court martialed & kicked out of Army Air Force. He was permanently traumatized & suffered from remorse, guilt & depression. He lived in the area for most of the rest of his life & died in 2005(?). I researched this crash in 2009 & have Army AIr Force crash file plus K.C. Star news pieces.

I was 7yrs old when the plane made a circular path,, S.on Quivira Rd To Lucele then e. to Antioch Rd., then north to Fisher(now 55th st.), then w.to Quivira, this was the loop. Keeches(pilot) parents lived on Luciele and his wife was living with her parents at 57th and Slater in Merriam Ks.We lived at 57th and Quivira,I was In a ditch watching the plane coming s. and over me at no more than 50 ft. elevation. Keech leaned out the window and waved to me. I was scared to death. I watched the plane go down from the attic window of our house,5 miles away, but there were very few trees in Johnson county in 1944.

I was living with my parents west of Shawnee, Kansas at the time. I remember watching the plane flying over the Shawnee area; my parents told me it was probably flying over the Keech family home in Shawnee. After what seemed like five or ten minutes the plane leveled and headed east, toward Merriam. A few minutes later we witnessed a large column of black smoke rising some distance to our east. The next day my Dad took me to visit the crash site. I remember picking up a small piece of melted aluminum and the casing from a 50 cal. shell. Most of all I (still) remember the smell; burned metal, rubber and plastics, aviation fuel and oils; and certainly the homes and trees at the site. My parents later related that a friend, a Mr. Pyle as I remember it, had run to the site immediately following the crash and had participated in pulling crew from the wreckage. The unconfirmed information we received following the crash was that the pilot had only recently been released from the hospital; returned to flight status; and was to ferry this new aircraft from KC on its way to war.
