After contacting a lot owner about seeing a lot in Lake Timberline, I drive for over an hour to arrive at the Lake Timberline gate. There a group of people were gathered around some vehicles, after a minute a male slowly comes over to the gate office, and enters, obviously upset I bothered him by wanting in I guess.

Asking why I was there, I presented the lot information I wanted to see, because I was going to need directions anyways, the owners name and telephone number. After looking at the information, he simply says, no, I am not letting you in. I say, you can call the lot owner and confirm I am to be looking at it....nope.

So I back up in my vehicle, time wasted, and rather insulted, I call up the lot owner to give an earful. To my surprise, I am told she had called the gate, and gave instruction to let me in. She then offers to drive there personally and get me in to see the lot, when I reply no thanks.

Imagine if I had called to gate to let my mother or father in, or my boss, girlfriend,...anyone I wanted to come to my home, and after driving for an hour or so to get there, the man at the gate decides, no, I am not letting you in.

I guess I must have really bothered that guy at the gate, having to leave his group of friends and all, tough labor job, to open a gate to someone interested in purchasing real estate. I guess he felt I was too risky, a real estate guy, might mess up his drug neighborhood I guess.

But I think I understand the purpose of the gate now at Lake Timberline, because at first it seemed like a 'police state', but now I understand that not only is freedom and liberty too risky for LT, but I believe what the gate guy wants to protect, is not what is coming form the outside in, but to protect the inside from changing into someplace without the reputation of Meth Lab City.

I actually own property there, I wish it was somewhere else. The land is absolutey beautiful and the lakes are crystal clear . The owners and the workers there are the biggest bunch of assholes I have ever met. When I bought my need the first time I went there they turned me away to because the previous owner had owned that years lot assesments and because it wasn't paid they turned me away. I live an hour and. A half away .... I was so pissed , great property but horrible workers there agreed

I grew up in Lake Timberline and got out at the first opportunity! Josh is right, the land and the lakes are beautiful but the people who run the place are assholes! I like that you described it as a "police state" lol! I remember coming home from work late one night when I was a teenager (I had closed a restaurant), I had parked at the back gate in order to walk home, since they always locked the gates, and was "pulled over" by a cop. Now don't get me wrong, I was raised in a family of police officers and when we moved down there my Grandpa was the chief of police in LT back when they were still commissioned by the sheriff's department but this "cop" was a bully. He stopped me when I was 40 ft from my house claiming that I matched the description of a runaway and that he needed to question me. This guy knew who I was because he followed me and my sister home all of the time. What a creep. That place has gone so far downhill it's ridiculous!! Be glad that they turned you out and that you didn't waste your money buying property there, you would have regretted it for a VERY long time. My advice would be to look at Terre du Lac. I'm not a huge fan of theirs because they are snotty and things aren't perfect but they are way better than LT. I used to hear that Cedar Lake was full of drugs but have heard that things have been cleaned up in the last few years.

Cedar lake is run by a drunk! There still is a drug problem and a huge problem with campers getting broken into while the the owners are gone during the week. Its no better than TL. Lake Hannah is full of the same crap also.

I have a lot there along with 2 of my sisters. We have had them a year now and are very satisfied with everything. It is nice and quiet. We love the swimming, riding 4-wheelers,camping. When we have friends or family meeting us there we simply give their name and our names and noone has ever had a problem getting in the gate. My sister from the city has even brought her camper down and they have let her come in. We are not druggies,we drink and have a good peaceful time. I'm glad we invested in property there.

There are going to be drugs anywhere you go around here, especially outside of city limits. I haven't been out that way in over a year so I can't say for sure but I would say that getting a security system is a good idea no matter where you are.

The high road dues are what made us sell our beautiful lots there. We owned property there 3 years and saw no maintance on our road the entire time we owned the property. ($690 in three years)Also, in all reality we were uncomfortable driving a $60,000 rig with tree branches scraping down the sides on our road.

I also own a lot there, my road has never had gravel put on it, since it was made, its like a grass road. I have owned it for 12 years. Don't go out there much, most people that actually live there, are ass holes. And the bar out there the group think they personally own it.

I have owned property in Timberline for about 6 or 7 years.I will live there very soon.As far as Meth cooking Iam not aware of any of that. But what lake doesn,t have this problem. And yes the roads need attention but so did the Dams which was hundreds of thousands of dollars. Amen to the fact of non-payments of assesments, which by the way are the lowest of any lake development that I no of.Pay up or take your Happy Ass down the road.

I have been in Lake Timberline for some years now and I wouldn't recommend it to no one. They have people running the community that are lazy and never and I mean never get anything done. The roads are horrible and nothing is marked in the Lake property. This area is a no, no to buy into
No decent roads. There is only a few paved roads with repairs as big as mountains to drive over. I think it would be okay if they had different people running it. It doesn't impress me at all. Also how in the hell can you sell any property with the office only open maybe 3 days a week and only Saturdays when people are off of work. WOW!! I don't know where these people came from in here but they aren't smart enough to compete with any other lakes around here. Things aren't run right in this lake community. The only way I can describe it is lazy people who put in office relatives or good friends and that is why nothing get done here in Lake Timberline. DONT PURCHASE IN LAKE TIMBERLINE. JUST A WARNING

Septic tanks ... Ahhh man there all so scared! Is someone's dog missing or something? Lol a lil over the top. Yes people are crazy an out there but I don't think all missing people are going to start showing up in crap tanks! If done correctly there suppose to be cleaned out every 2 to 3 years an you would not think if there not moving like the one did they wouldn't want the future backup problems? Jerry Springers thought of the day!!
