Someone has to take responsibility for the lack of growth in Bonifay & Holmes County. Since my grandfather brought the rodeo to Bonifay many years ago, nothing has changed. This is still the same old town that I remember some 30 to 40 years ago. When the old timers are gone, what will Bonifay have to show for itself? All I hear or read about, in relation to Bonifay & Holmes County, is all the drug busts! Holmes County is a vitual playground for fishing and hunting. You would think the county & city would take advantage of this market, but just recently found out you can't even buy fish bait in Bonifay anymore. Bonifay is on the way to the beach. How about attracting business to market products to those people? I guess the finger has to be pointed at the city council and all those who support a no growth agenda. It looks like your city council needs a boost of young energy with a vision for the future. Good luck!

I agree Rodeo Kid we do need some young energy with a vision, but all of the elderly got it on lock down and i have heard several of them say i like it like it is......... these small businesses are nice but they wont let us grow its all in who you know..........etc..etc..

I think the place is stagnant because no one here wants to make it more successful. Most of the people here are just comfortable and not interested in change that would benefit the entire community.

The people that control the growth in Bonifay have the money thats why there is no growth, they are afraid some one else will get some of the money and they will not be top dog no more. Change the elected officials and you change Bonifay, but thats not going to happen. Thats why Bonifay is going to dry up and blow away.

Seems to me that more people like it like it is than want change. It is proven in every election, city and county,. If more people wanted change, they would elect different people to the various offices.

That is why we call it democracy, the people with the most votes gets to run the county or city, as it should be.

who you vote for doesnt change the progress and growth in this county. it has been proven so in past elections. new people have gotten elected over the years. did they "remember their promises" to those who elected them? obvioulsly, they did not remember. this county needs businesses and tax breaks given to new businesses coming here. why else would a new business want to locate here in holmes county? we need to change our "backwoods" and "backwards" attitudes. this is 2011.

I have lived here in Bonifay for over 40 yrs. now and I have not seen any improvement yet. I have lived off and on for longer than that. when you see a parade you see a parade but ours has gone down hill for many years now and it is getting no better. The bands are always out of step I was in band and we had to stay in line and in step with each other and we are not that way in Bonifay, band leaders teach the students to be proud of what they are doing and stay in step and in line. And another thing get those buildings that are down town full of something.

bonifay definitely needs a change. Lived here off and on for my whole life, and in my opinion this whole town is like a trap. You choose to stay for some of the people you know(most people in bonifay are worth knowing i suppose) but at the end of the day you realize if you dont got a nice bank account or know the right people your just gonna be stuck at your minimum wage job working your ass off for nothing.

Every election we have a chance to change Bonifay and what happens, we put the same people back in office that refuses to let go of their hold on Holmes County. Again this year we have a chance to make a change in Holmes County, will we make that change or put it back the way it is now. The city council is worried about what will benifit them and the county gives everything to the road department. If Holmes (Bonifay) don't change then blame the people they keep putting the same people back in office over and over and over again. Wake up people or there will not be a Bonifay or Holmes county left.
