Coach Simmons taught me, too. He was never anything but nice and a TEACHER to me. He is a good guy and he is like BO....HE KNOWS FOOTBALL!!! I am proud to have him back. You go Coach!!!!

When your making budget cuts and you hire him.... i mean... That just shows you that Holmes county choses sports over education.

why would that be funny? brad johnson has paid his dues as assistant f'ball coach at hchs. he deserves a chance at the head position. it makes a lot more sense to pay an already existing teacher a supplement than to hire someone to only coach and pay them $30,000+!

It is ridiculous to hire someone to coach football for a couple of hours after school and pay him as much, if not more than a math or english teacher. I do not think that Carlin Martin got a fair shot. Don't the actual team members have some responsibility also? What will the excuse be if they still lose with Simmons as the coach? Who will you blame then?

Well Jean, then they may claim that those boys are spending too much time in the classroom and need to spend more time on the football field! After all what is the purpose of High School anyway?! Remember you are talking about Holmes County.

Years ago the county commissioners wanted to close the public library. In order to justify his position one of the commisioners actually commented (this is not a quote, but it's pretty close..it has been three decades, give or take a few years)"I aint never needed to read books." Thank goodness a few literate people attended the meeting and spoke about the importance of reading for people of all ages.
