Let me start by saying, I know Sonny Cruse personally and like him as a man and a school leader. But in the current economic times is it really time for an 8% pay raise? I know the school staff has been asked or told to cut their budgets and the teachers have not recieved an 8% raise, so is this a good decision by our school board or Sonny Cruse?

I agree that Sonny Cruse is a good man, but that should have no bearing on whether or not he gets a raise over the teachers! No one (except for firefighters and police) has a more thankless job than teachers!!! They are asked to be teachers, parents, role models, disciplinarians, entertainers, and on occasion, counselors.

If any one should get a raise in this economy, it should be teachers!

And yet the two members of the school board who ran 3 years ago on a platform of raising teacher pay haven't done a single thing to raise teacher salaries......

I think he is referring to Simpson and Cox. Cox might as well not be on there, had no business being on there in the first place. I've heard he pulled his kid(s) out of BISD and ships them to Leonard. Can anyone confirm this?

Have the teachers not received any raises? Is this being considered soon? If not, Cruse should refuse this raise!!

Jim Simpson and Press Cox are the two I was referring to. Their BISD seats plus Bob Thomas' are up for election in May. And yes, Cox's son is currently enrolled at Leonard ISD. He was removed from BISD due to chronic discipline problems...

Cox and Simpson ran and were elected because so many were upset at the previous board members. These two were not the most qualified for the job!!

Maybe in May we could elect 3 people that actually have the best interests of the children of BISD at heart......

I'm asking what his salary is up to now after the raise, while poking at him for constantly pushing bond elections on the voters. Already talks of another one this year!

Maybe we all need to start showing up at BISD Board meetings and demanding better decisions be made with our money. There is hardly anyone ever at these meetings....

Cruse should be ashamed to take that raise.
NOT A CORPORATE GUY

Cruse is no different than the big corporate leaders getting millions in bonuses. While maybe not millions, the principle is the same. Everyone under them is worried about losing their jobs but the bonuses keep coming in for the top spots. NO LEADERSHIP when that is going on. No repsect for someone that is supposed to watch out for the "TRUE LEADERS", teachers and staff, but back stabbing instead. The school board members are as much at fault as anyone and are no different than the one taking the bonus or raise.

If the school board gives Cruse a raise then SHAME on them..and SHAME on Cruse if he doesn't refuse it. The teachers who do the work, deals with the kids every day needs the raise....Cruse can sit behind his desk and think of something else to propose....Disappointed in our school board

Cruse should be ashamed and refuse the raise if he has any character at all. Have no idea what is wrong with the school board to approve such a stupid decision when teachers are worried about their jobs being cut. This kind of thing is what leaves citizens so disheartened. You just get so tired of seeing such injustice that you almost lose the will to try to fight it anymore. Integrity or the lack thereof is the real problem here, integrity is becoming non existent. There are some on the board that I'm not surprised about but others making this decision completely surprises me. Makes me think about the previous Superintendent and her buddies having offices that look like they should be in an expensive highrise. They may think people are not aware of the money they spent that was so wasteful. They apparently tried to justify that "it was not that much money". Doesn't matter how they tried to justify it, it was still money. It just goes on and on. How ignorant do the powers that be think the people trying to pay for all these things are. We are to just keep paying and never ask a question.
