I think you are wrong Chicken Little - the sky isn't going to fall - neither is the economy. It's just a scare tactic from racists who don't like the fact that we have a black president. News flash - he's been president for 4 years and we are all still ok.

Better stock up on dry goods and food that will last, such as rice, beans, etc.

Get long-term medical supplies if you need any, or just the basics founds in medicine cabinets.

Start a co-op with local farmers or people in the country, so you will have affordable dairy/vegetables, as prices are about to jump bigtime! If you live in rural areas, be prepared to defend your property and belongings, as your isolated nature will make you more susceptable to looters and robbery.

Get whatever guns and ammo you want or might need, as Obama has stated his number #1 goal during his next 4 years is to ban most all of them, and has billionaire Mayor Bloomberg backing that agenda!

Have basic clothing for cold weather, in case of major power outages and huge increases in fuel and heating costs.

Be prepared for a mass exodus of people from the DFW area, if blackouts or economic collapse occurs, as they will be starving and desperate and leaving the city, mostly coming east and north. Looting is very likely in more populated areas, and outright robbery and murder more likely in rural areas, as gasoline on farms will be prime attractants.

Be ready for any savings you have in banks to be lost, as the FDIC is likely to collapse in a major economic downturn. Certain trade items will be more valuable in a major economic collapse, such as food, water, guns, ammo, medical supplies and medicines, and perhaps still precious metals that have universal value.

We are NOT ok, unemployment is rampant, cost of living is escalating.....and Obama will let this nation sink before he will compromise! It's not a racist scare tactic, it's Obama being unwilling to compromise! Not everyone who isn't happy with Obama is a racist. Hell, he's half white!

OK, let's all step back and take a look at reality. This "fiscal cliff" the media keeps howling and screaming gloom and doom about? Don't you understand whats going on? They are trying to create a false panic. The media wants you to believe the apocalypse is at hand. It isn't. A recession and depression is. Oblama doesn't get his way and he acts like a spoiled 5 year old and takes it to the airwaves. Yes, spending is out of control. We had a chance to correct that back in November, but there are too many liberal sheep out there believing his bullshit. If you really want to avoid abject socialism then the American public has to gather the intestinal fortitude to make a change. Bottom Line.

Just listening to the news a moment ago. The House has dismissed for the day. They are not going to make the deal. Go ahead with your doomsday plans. I remember when our "leaders" had the stones to stay until the job was DONE. I say CLEAN HOUSE in the next election.... they forgot that they work for US, not the other way around.

No one has reminded them that they work for us. Obama is doing everything he can to destroy this nation. Everyone wants to make it about race. Romney would have been just as bad. They are mere puppets for the people with the money.

It's Jan 2 and the sky hasn't fallen. A tax deal was worked out. Wealthiest folks are going to have to pay more but middle and working class won't see an increase. Some spending has been cut and income has been increased. Seems like we are moving in the right direction.

NOT TRUE.....

The budget deal passed by the U.S. Senate today would raise taxes on 77.1 percent of U.S. households, mostly because of the expiration of a payroll tax cut, according to preliminary estimates from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center in Washington.

More than 80 percent of households with incomes between $50,000 and $200,000 would pay higher taxes. Among the households facing higher taxes, the average increase would be $1,635, the policy center said. A 2 percent payroll tax cut, enacted during the economic slowdown, is being allowed to expire as of yesterday.

Ok - well guess depends on what sources you read on what Congress actually passed. But it is true that we have not had a total economic collapse like the original poster and other doomsday posters have predicted.

Excellent information! The trouble with a slippery slope is the movement is gradual at first, then rapidly accelerates and catches most people offguard, and those unprepared will suffer the most.

Both political parties are causing most of the problems, but the Democrats are not hiding their agenda anymore.
