IN just his few short years he managed to spend $27 million bucks..Here are some of his money waters..in Bonham, the city built its first new city hall in 50 years, renovated a building to be used as Bonham Senior Citizens Center, entered into a three-year agreement with Fannin County that will allow Bonham Fire Department/EMS to continue to provide emergency medical services for the entire county, and the city also built a new animal shelter. He is just full of ideas of how to spend money.
It took him only 2 property tax raises of over 10% to get this done. Bay Fisher will love this big black liberal spender. The dumb Democrat voters here will help him raise taxes for his projects. They have never voted NO on any tax raise.
Do you even know what a city manager is? How about a city council. It appears that you think he will just pull out the city credit card and start spending.

I'm ashamed for La Porte. Bring on your come-back, bigot - I won't be reading or posting here again. What a waste.

Do you mean that only Rosa, Ron Bottoms and Ms. Powell have written all 46 posts? Tell us who wrote which ones so we can see which ones we like.

Topix has become a place for nut jobs to post ignorant, ridiculous comments. If the rest of us just ignore the idiots and not respond to their jibberish they will eventually just go away. They only post the ridiculous to get a rise out of the rest of us. Let's all try to just ignore them. Back to the topic - Corby Alexander will be missed. He worked for the mayor and city council and did a good job for them. If you don't like what he did, blame those that run the city.

Why did he leave Bonham? Answer : The new city council was going to fire him. This is another another dumb decision by the LP council.

Wrong!!

There is no "new city council". In the last election, all three incumbents were re-elected.

Try again.

Roger you are correct.

Also heard LP offered Corby more money than he was making in Bonham. Also LP is closer to some of their family. Bonham's loss is LP's gain.

He actually took a pay cut to work in La Porte. The "new council" after re-election was going to dump Corey. That is what they campaigned on.

No they didn't campaign on that. Not sure where you get your info, the ones that ran clearly had an agenda with Taylor and the whole BEDCO and Chamber of Commerce fiasco we've put up with for a few years now.

One incumbent was unopposed and the other two incumbents had Lawrence who clearly was a running because of personal issues against Taylor by her husband and his band of yahoos at the newspaper, she lost...again. May be time to quit running for her.

Margaret Bradshaw ran against Thomas and Bradshaw obviously supported Mr. Alexander as does Thomas.

So who is the "new council" that you are referring to that would have removed him? Can't wait for this explanation!!

It really sounds like a normal succession story. Mr Alexander is young and when you are in the City Manager business you look to move every 5 years or so to get a better job. Bonham is about 10,000 LaPorte is about 40,000 population. Don't make something out of nothing.

But we don't have a new council. All the incumbents won. No one mentioned anything about getting rid of Corby (not Corey) in their campaigns.

LP is not a better job. He took a pay cut. The cost of living in LP is the highest in the U.S. outside of Hawaii. The electric rates are 14 cents per KW. The school and property taxes are higher than California. His pants were on fire and the suckers on the LP council gave him the hose. The only thing propelling LP is Oil and the PORT.LP is 37,000. The big spenders here will love him. He will be right at home.

WTF? You are making this shit up!!!

The cost of living in Texas is one of the lowest in the country. LP is even lower than Dallas and Houston.

Here are more than 20 power companies that offer electricity rates at less than 10 cents: http://www.powertochoose.org/_content/_compar...

California has an income tax of 9.3%. Thats on all income including Social Security. At least the school district has an exemtion for senior citizens.

You are just plain wrong.

Cheney is Heavy Fed.

California has a flat 1.01 property rate based on the last purchase price. LP school tax is 2.21 with no exceptions based on the value they put on the property. The report this morning put Texas 3rd form the highest with only NJ and NH with higher taxes. Louisiana is the lowest with Hawaii 2nd lowest. No one has the time to sit around and argue with you Heavy Fed. I have a real job to do. Calif. Sales tax is 6.5 percent period. Cities add on their own tax.LP school board members brag about having sports facilities 2nd to none. They also have students dumbest to none.
