I moved into my new home on November 14th, 2007. We called all utilities, and ABC disposal to start all of the services they provide. After approximately 3 months I called Aqua to ask why I had not recived a water bill yet. They told me that they had no record of my account information. I then gave the customer service agent my information again. She said it could be another month or two for my first bill to be sent.
Then in April after I had been watering my new sod and grass seed, I thought "I still havent gotten a water bill yet". I caled Aqua again and asked wheres my bill? And again I was told that they had no information regarding an account in my name. I once again gave my information. I then asked how much water usage would cost for me, I could go read the meter myself, and then send a check for what the meter had shown. The service rep said she had no way of telling me how much water cost in my area. The billing department was the only ones who knew that. I asked to speak to billing, and she said billing does not accept phone calls. So I was back to waiting for my first water bill.
July I call again asking for my bill, and once again no record of my account. Still no way of finding out how much water is. They say they cannot look at the rate for my neighbor.
I call back once a month until finally in September of 2008, 314 days have passed and I get a water bill for $631 and a sewer bill for $250.
Well so much for trying to be proactive and avoid such a large bill. I pay off the $259 sewer bill, and pay $250 towards the $631 water bill.
I called a few times to ask what certain charges are on the bill, and the call center in Pennsylvania has no information about the charges like fire protection charge. They tell me its because I have fire sprinklers, but I tell them that its a house with no sprinklers. They then put me on hold and call someone in Illinois. They tell me its like a tax they charge for the upkeep of fire hydrants. Myself being a firefighter for 14 years now then ask who maintains the hydrants Aqua or the village of Bourbonnais. At this point the customer service rep starts yelling at me for asking questions. She tells me to send them in writting.
I get my October bill and it has a late fee for the balance of the first bill for 314 days. It says the balance is due November 19th. The next day we get a disconnection notice, saying we need to payoff the balance or water will shutoff November 12th. I call Aqua and they tell me I should have been put on a payment plan when I sent in the partial payment. The customer service rep says she has now set me up on a payment plan. I ask about the charges on the bill and get no ansewers.
November 12th the water gets shutoff. Let me add that my wife is home 36 weeks pregnant and has prgenancy induced high blood pressure, I was sick with a sinus infection, and our dog has cancer and needs to be washed daily to keep her wound clean. I need the water on.
i go to the Kankaee office and explain my plight. She says she sees no record of a payment plan, but there is a log of all my phone calls. I am again put on the payment plan, which I was told I was on, and the water will be back on later in the day. The water got turned back on 5 hours later.
November 19th I pay $250 toward the balance which is now $400.
November 23rd they shutoff our water again. No disconnection notice. We call Aqua and they have us in their system on a payment plan. They dont know why the water is off. A tech stops by to turn the water on, My wife sees him by the buffalo box, the problem is, he tightens the valave in the off position and leaves. How hard is to turn the valave the right way?
We call again and say the water is still off. 3 hours later someone from Aqua Indiana shows up to turn on the water. He is the one who tells us what the last guy did.
To this day I have to worry that they will just shut my water off again.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone having problems with Aqua America or Aqua Indiana. I live in Floyd County Indiana and our sewer rate is $80 a month and they are wanting to raise it. The last three summers, we have dealt with backup of sewer gases into homes because the amount of chemicals used was not correct, or so we were told. This company has also been sending out cut off notices for sewer services if you are 10 days late on your bill. And to cut off service they would need to install a valve that would cost you 800 to 2000 to put in. Then according to their letter you would have 15 days to vacate your property. Someone needs to put this company on notice that people are fed up. Fight it like crazy. You do not want them in your community.

I've had a recent run in with Aqua of Indiana, they said they sent a disconnect notice and i know for a fact i never received one. so they came and shut off my sewer. leaving a note saying i had to pay 100.00 reconnect fee and yet another deposit of 120.00 plus the bill of 156.00 for a total of over 375.00, for sewer!! what a crock of shit this whole mess is. These people are charging THE highest sewage bills in our entire state. How in the hell can they justify this? And i thought that in order to shut off your sewage they had to dig up your line? there isn't any valve that i can see that shuts it off. so i'm thinking that it was total bullshit and that they never shut if off because i never saw anyone come to turn it back on. and when they shut if off they never even knocked on my door. all they did was attach that paper and leave. I cannot believe that these crooks get away with this.

I have had many of the same problems as everyone else on this page. They have dug up my front yard without any notification, left a huge mound, cut my dog fence and possibly my irrigation, and left a pipe 12 inches above the grass. Then, as everyone knows, they tell you they will call you back within 5 days, 24 hours, 48 hours, same day, etc.....and I never received a phone call. It has now been 22 days.
The best advice that I can tell people is to call the BBB. I just did this and I am hoping a better result this time.

I am having difficulty understanding why I am now paying a water tracking and sewer tracking fee. It adds anywhere from 25 to 80 dollars a month. It's tied to my usage I can see, but this is a new charge in the past few months.

Just an update. It has not been 50 days with no resolution to the problem. I have received a response through the BBB. A representative did come out to my property after 46 days and said it would be fixed on Oct. 5th. I then received a voicemail at the end of Oct. 5th stating they could not get to my house today and they could start on mine on Oct. 8th. I will see what has been done today when I get home. Seems as if they like to hold you off until you give up so they don't have to be accountable for any problems they caused you.

How can Aqua Indiana justify a 265.00 per month water bill. They said that maybe i have a leak in my house,I think i would notice 700 gallons of water per day leaking in my home.

My water will is over 100 a month compared to 80 every three months in Steger Illinois. The quality of the water is much better in dyer but I still find these charges outrageous. Called Aqua and they could not explain what the Water Tracking and Sewer Tracking charges are.

AQUA water company of Pennsylvania is the most insensitive, money hungry, unwilling to work with people who have ALWAYS paid their bill on time for 30 years but had some unusual circumstances, unwilling to follow their own protocol, uncaring, inept corporation I have ever had the displeasure of working with. They want to know all personal information that is absolutely none of their business and will not help you if unwilling to divulge. ARE WE OR ARE WE NOT STILL LIVING IN THE UNTITED STATES OF AMERICA? Apparently least no AVERAGE MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE WHO PAY EVERY ONE ELSES BILLS BUT NEVER GET HELP WHEN THEY NEED IT. I never complain about anything, but if this corporation was broken up for monopoly, guaranteed I would favor the competitor. Wish we had a choice. Hurt my family bad and absolutely does not care. Even the public utilities commission came to their aid and not the consumer.

Asking if anyone has their meter changed -2017 if their water usage went up? We have lived in our house two adults for 29 years & all the sudden our water bill doubled when they changed our meter 9-17. We normally use 480 cubic feet (CF) so now they say we are using 1200 CF. Our bill doubled - we're wondering WTH & if others have a similar issue?

They say we increased our usage or have a leak-We haven't done anything different except they changed meter.
