Well, I guess they can afford to do this being they laid off a lot of people and the ones that stayed, took their bonuses from them with no raises!

The average banking closings for every reason is 100 a year. With 40 closing as of June that would be about less then normal.

Just to make sure that we understand the corruption at work here: The Federal Government gave UCB more than 200 million so that it wouldn't go out of business - and instead it uses the funds to acquire Southern Community?

I smell fraud - and since UCB in involved, we should add the word "again".

What I don't understand is, why did UCBI buy five more banks but can't give their employees a raise or their bonuses? That's very shotty!

Everytime someone points out the source of corruption and dishonesty in North Georgia some Satanic Demon starts screaming in agony. The truth obviously hurts.

UCB was told to take over Southern Community because they had taken TARP funds as part of this stupid bailout, they were told they would not be on the hook for the bad loans of Southern Community and could add to their customer base. What to you expect them to do!!!!!!

did any of you ever stop to think that them buying other banks could help them and the people they employ? it just seems to me like they are trying to expand their business... i doubt they would buy other banks expecting to loose money doing it. they are trying to make a profit so that maybe they can start giving raises and bonuses.

I'm sure it never entered Bob or WC's mind that this would be another way to pad their wallets. They were thinking about all the people they were going to put to work, and all the goodwill they were going to spread around. It's never about them, it's about helping others. NOT!!!

uh, of course... when ucb makes money, so does bob and w.c.. isnt the point of doing business to make money? so what if they wanted to make some money while at the same time making money for ucbi and the community.

I quit doing business with them a decade ago after discovering that BH won't hire a subcontractor unless they build in a 10% kickback to the GC - even on Government work.
