what a slap in the face them collecting money for drug addicts. it is not enough that our tax money goes out house them in jail, special law enforcement to keep drugs alway from our children, not to mention the theives that steal from us to get there drugs. I see no way to justify this.

I think somebody's accusing Santa of being a drug dealer. Of course that would explain his munchies for cookies and milk...

You know I was actually out there this afternoon and the guy that was taking up money yelled at me and asked me if I would donate something. I thought that was rather odd to call someone out in front of other people. I was so caught off guard and told him I would next time. And I am not against giving to help people out....but to yell out is just annoying.

You are joking right? Drug addiction is not a disease. They chose to do drugs. They didn't wake up one morning and decide "I think I'll get breast cancer or liver cancer today." "I may just go out and get some lymphoma today." Drug addicts are useless individuals and I have no sympathy for them. I'm sure I'll be chastized for my beliefs but that's just the way I feel. It's my opinion. Respect it as such and I'll do the same toward yours.

I think we should help those who are trying to quit and need the help as long as we don't support their habit

its called natural selection ppl,let these dumbasses die off, quit trying to save the worthless and try concentrating on the good this country has to offfer and the good ppl in it,criminals and drug addicts/abusers are costing this country more money every year, hell even more money than obummer is handing out,if the ama does classify this as a disease then thats b.s.,a self induced disease, wth??if you went and intentionally got aids(needle from infested) would you still have sympathy for that person because they have aids or anger because they went and done sumthing so freggin stupid?

Drug addiction is no no different than someone who smokes and then gets lung cancer. Are you going to quit donating to the amercian cancer society?

One small difference. Tobacco is LEGAL. And there is a difference between the two. Smoking only increases your risk of getting cancer. Doesn't mean you will. George Burns smoked cigars for over 80 yrs and died of old age. Not cancer. And no I'm not a smoker. It is a proven fact what ILLEGAL drugs and overdosing on prescription medication does to not only a person's body, but to those around them as well. The way you are defending the use of drugs makes me wonder if you, yourself, are either a user or perhaps a dealer.

Actually neither, I'm retired after 30 years in the military, and drug addiction is a disease as is tobacco. The only difference is how it's percieved.

How do you know that the money you gave to these guys wasn't for a drug of their choice later on tonight ? I mean it's not unusual for druggies to lie and steal and trick you out of money for their habit, is it ? Who says these guys are on the up-and-up that are taking money from the public ? I don't know...do you know ? My cousin was an addict for years and I wouldn't have put it past him to set up a phony collection scam in front of Walmart.

Give them your hard earned money if you want but I'm pretty sure the government foots the bill for the ones who want to enter treatment but don't have insurance. We pay for it thru tax dollars but I have no control over all that waste. I do have control over the money in my possession and no I didn't give them a penny when I passed their table today. I think they are smart enough to know who they can call out and who knows they are scammin' and they leave those people alone.

I don't give to all the other crap they collect for at the stores during the holidays either. I gave out of my paycheck every week for years to United Way. They wouldn't help a woman in the community that needed and deserved help because they didn't have the funds available. The following week they showed pictures in the Louisville newspaper of the head of that United Way chapter riding around in a limo doing his Christmas shopping and one of the news stations investigated and found all kinds of wrong things going on. I stopped giving to them immediately. I watched the Salvation Army workers degrade an elderly woman and treat her like crap and turn around and give an illegal a voucher for a hotel stay and vouchers for fast food while he was "passing through" our community. Wouldn't give them a penny for any reason. I have money deducted from my paycheck weekly that goes to St. Jude Hospital and I make donations to Goodwill. I'm not worried if the druggies get off dope. They made the choice to do drugs now they can make the choice to find a way to get off drugs. If they can't just stop because of how much they hurt their children and families then to hell with them.

I walked up to the man without him yelling to me and gave him the last 25 cents I have to my name. Before anyone jumps to conclusions no I don't use drugs, nor do I drink alcohol. I have had many friends that have fallen victim to drugs. I asked the man what the charity was exactly for and he said, " it was to help the addicts get away from the town they were in so they could get help and start fresh." Any means he needs to use to get money as long as it's not grabbing you by the arm and taking it out of your pocket there's nothing wrong with it. The friends that I lost could not get away from the town where the drugs were. I think he's doing a wonderful service if that is where the money is going.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Cancer

Be careful today Cancer, because your emotions could cloud certain issues as they often to and leave you feeling confused. You should be especially wary of believing what you want to believe, rather than believing the evidence in front of your eyes. It's easy to kid yourself now about someone's motives or reliability, even if deep down you know that you're telling yourself a load of old twaddle.
