I used to know Caisha C. Wantz, and she is a very very easy going sweet woman. The man that threw her dog over the bridge should get one year in prison for each year of the dog's expected life time.

The dog owner comes off as kind of witchy bitchy, but that is no excuse for taking it out on the dog. She should have just called the police instead of engaging in confrontational behaviour. It makes you wonder if they are trying to hide something to be so paranoid about someone parked in the driveway making a phone call.

1 I can't even begin to describe what out family has been through because of this man. I am truly deeply sad about our loss of Zoey. Please do not judge me for my reaction to his rudeness that day. We are good people and always offer our help to those in need. Thanks to everyone for your condolences. |

Thank you Christine, that was very sweet. I'm not claiming to be an angel in this situation, I did get aggrivated with the guy because he so blatently refused to leave. But I feel that I didn't do anything that would constitute him killing my innocent dog. I wish so badly he had approached me instead. As Zoey's human mama I have to live with my decision everyday, so for those who choose to judge my actions that day please put yourself in my shoes first. Thanks so much

Mrs. Wantz,
I am so sorry for you and your families loss. I am ill at Mr. Beers' utter loss of decency. He undoubtedly deserves punishment. I'm positive Zoey feels such love with all that you and your family and friends are doing in her name. If there is anything I can do please do not hesitate to ask. August |

Hi Caisha: Disregard those mean comments made by readers. You and your husband had a right to address anyone on your property; however, you took a big chance in approaching the car he could have done you harm directly. This guy is certainly a mean, hateful, disrespectfuly man who obviously is headed for deep trouble. It is people like that, that trespass, hurt children, do drugs, etc., kill animals, etc., are not long before they try to kill people. I have a little dog who makes our family. We love it dearly and if anything like that happended I don't know what I would do or how I would react to this individual. As the Bible says, Humans are guardians of all animals. This man is souless. Stay safe, Christine, Adamstown, Md. |

Is the guy a code enforcement officer though? I see by googling that someone with that name is. Maybe it is someone else. I mean, that could explain why he was on your property , right? And it could explain why he refused to leave, and why you reacted so angrily. I mean its not an excuse for someone harming a dog like a total nutcase, but it could explain why you were both so touchy? I mean, you realize that you live near Brunswick, a place known for its violent wacked out people?

No, it was not the same David Beers. This is David M Beers who killed Zoey. There is also an inspector for Frederick City with the same name. And Christine, you are absolutely right. I should have just stayed in the truck, but I can't undo it now. This man was angry before I ever even said anything, so I'm not too sure it would have even changed anything. He was angry that we dared approach him, he acted as though we were intruding on him, even though he was in the middle of our 25 acres, about 300 yards from the road, and not talking on the phone. He was sitting in the car with his engine off, why? I have no idea, but I'm sure he was up to no good. As far as me being touchy, I don't think that I was. I mean, he was asked nicely to leave and he acted like a 12 year old and said no. I currently have a 3 year old girl in my custody who was taken by the state from her parents becuase they are crack heads. When we got into it with this guy all I could think of was that they had sent him to steal her from us, soooo if it seemed like I was touchy, that would be why. I would do anything to protect my children. I truly felt like I was doing the right thing at the time. I got out of the truck to get his tag number, not expecting he would try to hit me with his car.....I wasnt thinking clearly, but now I know better for next time. Thanks for listening and commenting.

For whatever reason the post's commenting on or questioning Caisha's behavior are upsetting to me. This is about Zoey.

Caisha,
I saw on the news months ago about what happened to your Chihuahua. I have a Chi and know what sweet dogs they can be. It haunted me for months and I just thought I would check on the internet what was the update of that case. I think Beers should be punished severely because he committed a heinous crime. That is murder! Can you imagine if that was a baby? A baby would feel the same fear and pain that little dog did. I feel he should be thrown off a bridge and see how that feels! |

I know David and his family personally. He is deeply sorrowful for what he did. He knows it was wrong, and has been seeking psychological counseling for anger management as a result of his actions. He is a God fearing man with a beautiful wife and five (soon to be six)wonderful children. He has given his sin to God and is at peace with the consequences he will face at the trial later this month. His main concern at this point is for his wife and family; they certainly didn't ask to be put in this situation and suffer the consequences of his sin. He is also remorseful because of how his actions, as a professed Christian, reflect on our Savior and the faith. My heart and prayers go out to the Wantz's. As a pet owner myself, I can imagine the pain you must be feeling, and nothing you do will bring Zoey back to you. Christine, I respect you desire to support Caisha's character and encourage her in the face of criticism, but heed the words of Jesus: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-2. Did David make a horrendously poor choice? Absolutely! Is he a former Marine that needs physchological help with his anger management? Absolutely! Is he a child-hurting, hateful, soulless drug user as Christine alleges? Absolutely not!! To call him that is slanderous, irresponsible, wreckless, and does nothing to promote healing in the face of this tragedy. There is much sadness, pain, and regret on both sides of this incident. Can we focus on moving forward in a positive manner rather than engaging in mean-spirited slander and mud slinging from either side of this issue? |

To Bill:
I have a problem believing that this man has any compassion. Did he hear the puppy yelp and cry before hitting the creek? Did he try and save it realizing what he did? Did the dog die from the fall or was it eaten by some wild animal. What a way to end a life. Why did it take so long for him to cool down when he was asked to leave someone's property? To go back to these people's home and pick up an innocent, curious dog just looking for a little love. He definitely has a problem. You say he has 5-6 children? What if that were to happen to one of his babies? How would he feel? What would his baby feel? The bible also says, "an eye for an eye." Stop making excuses for this man. He committed murder and nothing will bring the life of that little puppy back. I cringe when I think of what happened to that scared, innocent little dog. As angry as I get I could never kill. To take a life is one of the most heinous crime ever! He will surely go to Hell. |
