Yes, build a legal one. There were a couple hundred "8 Liners" distroyed during IKE. Those buildings are restored and the Illegal slot Machines are back on the Bolivar Peninsula before anything else.
We have no crackdown for the few who recieve the profits fron Illegal gambeling so why not have our schools get the profits from legal gambeling.

I say yes also. Galveston County will not stop the illegal gambeling. Outside the Motel there was Piles of them. I heard there are tin barns operating there now also.

YES!!! What better time to bring money back to the area. There is lots of land to build nice hotels with casino's. Maybe we should all quit going to LA to gamble and start puting money back into our own state.

Yes!!! Let's keep the tax dollars here instead of LA. Could be getting lots of out of state money, too!

Galveston had its "chance" decades ago with gambling, organized crime from Sicilian immigrants (the remnants of which still have control and influence) and the Soprano-type violence and corruption that accompanies illegal gambling.

Galveston chased off a huge number of visitors several years ago who were taken aback by local government policies and stern policing. Many of those discovered the freedom of Bolivar.

Bolivar deserves its chance at legal gambling and all it would do to restore the area. And don't worry about the terminally idle ferry service from Galveston; the business would flow freely from east Texas (and maybe even Louisiana!).

I note that none of the people enthusiastically saying yes are Bolivar residents. Why not let the people on the peninsula make that decision since it is they who will have to live with the drunks, the rudeness and the crowds- the sense of entitlement that will come along with a casino and the accompanying hotel(s). It is their home and it should be up to them and only them who should make the decision.
Galveston was lost long ago to this kind of "development"- why not just keep it there?

Yes, Yes, I lived there and the 8 liners caused no problems. We need the tax revenue, and Bolivar needs it too

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Virgo

Home is where your heart is, so stay there today if you can. Surround yourself with your loved ones, even if you're all slumped on the sofa in front of the TV. If you love cooking, you'll get sweet satisfaction from shutting yourself in the kitchen, and either producing a delicious meal or creating some Christmas food that can live in the freezer till you need it.
