If the company feels that all is fine and dandy up there and that they pose no threat to the public why all of a sudden are they submitting a proposed plan to deal with airborne toxin chemicals ??? Is there something they aren't telling us the citizens ?? Oh wait thats right they don't tell us anything that could be damaging to themselves and thay always deny anyways ! Lets not forget people of Republic and Countywide you have a family basically across the street from you best hope none of them get cancer from your denials of your problems or do you just not care ??

I'm suprised that the Ohio EPA doesn't know why solid and liquid wastes are outside the lined area on the landfill's southern slope. All liners leak and the carcinogenic chemicals can also migrate through the soil at least a thousand feet from the landfill perimeter. How close is the nearest home? Our organization, People Investigating Toxic Sites, has many files of neighborhoods near dumps (landfills) where residents are suffering with cancer and other serious illnesses.

I can say there is one family that has NO association with the landfill that if you go from the front of the house to the landfill entrance it is 4 tenths of a mile .... the landfill itself is technically right across the street above the hill . To say exact distance to there dumping area I don't have exacts on that ... but they do live on the south side .... which is the side that has slope damage . And since 2006 their water has changed horribly ... they had the perfect spring water for years (since they moved there in the 70's) and now you can't even make coffee with it . That says alot right there . Not to mention that they have had 2 or 3 dogs die in the past year with unexplained tumors (they have quite a few that they have rescued over the years). And ALL of this has been mentioned to EPA and with the water they say call the Health Department and with the dogs they really didn't say much , so what are they suppose to do ? Can't move , they have a mortgage to pay off and only 1 spouse can work because the other is disabled . How do they get anyone to care and not forget they are there ?

Lets face it. If the EPA was truly concerned about the health and lives of the residents near the landfill, they would have stopped the operation of it long before it has gotten to this level. Concerned citizens have been fighting this landfill operation for YEARS. How many people have to see their lives/homes erode away before it is stopped. And no one is really being held liable. Cannot sue public officials for allowing this to go on. Can't close Republic down for one reason or another. I am not stupid -can it be because of the dollars the landfill fees bring into the governmental agencies that keep it open? So people and animals are getting sick and die and the water and air is being contaminated. And the roads are being made unsafe and getting destroyed from all the truck traffic. I am not sure what it is going to take to get this place closed -- maybe destroying the aquifer that supplies water to all the surrounding counties will be the last straw - or all the local residents getting cancer and dying. Stay tuned for the next chapter......

People within the EPA have been fighting for the citizens too. My cousin is one of them. He filed ethics complaints...with nothing coming of them.

This cover-up goes well beyond the EPA. This is about lobbyists paying off high-office State officials. Mark my words, the right thing will never be done...the "political friends" of this landfill have too much cash.
