In our view: Right path
#1 Jun 3, 2008
I agree with developing walking and biking paths and there is no better time to do so with gas prices going up! Done properly, it is good not only for the quality of life, but also for the economic health of the area. For example, on the peninsula of Tampa Bay there is a county maintained trail running from Tarpon Springs to Fort DeSoto State Park. This is all paved and is routed past public parks, shopping areas and has spurs that go to several beaches. Some businesses even have direct access to the trail. Housing along the trail is in demand.
This is a great opportunity for the Bolivar and Polk County leaders to plan for a better, greener future for our children!
