Small studio with a few instructors who are ok and over inflated prices. Nicole - one of the instructors - is really fridgid and we did not like her.

I would save your money and go some place other.

We attended one of dance necessities dance "parties" a few weeks ago. The studio is very small and the turn out was very poor.
We were very disappointed by the professionalism of the staff. The female instructor a brunette with a very severe look and hair bun was literally groping my husband and virtually ignored me the whole time.
We will NOT be returning and would recommend taking taking your business else where.

Very badly managed with poor quality staff. This place is ok if you want to learn how to shuffle around the room some for a wedding or something, but if you want to really learn to dance, save your money, there are better studios in town.

One of the instructors, a manly looking brunette who wears a librarian bun for a hairdo is not very nice. I've also heard people talking that she used to be a stripper, so I guess you get what you pay for.

Yes, I agree that the studio was small, but they are still a first year studio and you have to start somewhere. I have heard that they have since moved to a much larger facility.
Attendance with any dance studio is always poor during the warmer months. This is why most children's studios close up during the summer.I would assume that it would not pay to keep the lights on when eveyone is gone for the summer.
The teaching quality is good if you stick with it for a while. The prices are about average for group classes. The private lesson rates are actually a bit on the low end comparable to the national average.
I find it hard to believe that someone would be as low-handed as to post a comment about an instructor based on what "other people were saying." There are just some people who are not happy unless they can create someone else some kind of misery.
I would give this studio a chance. It is a growing studio and like all other new businesses, it takes a while to work out the "bugs." I have seen effort on their part with this matter.

We took our first lesson last night and loved it! Immediately signed up for a series of 10 private lessons and we expect in a few weeks (when we feel confident) we'll take advantage for the Friday night and Sunday afternoon dance parties, as well as the 8-week series focused on one dance and the Thursday and Friday group classes -- just to stay tuned up.

Jesse Villalobos, owner, was wonderful! In half an hour he taught us the basic step to four different dances, made sure we reviewed often so we could practice at home, and very well explained how we'd progress through learning basics so we could quickly go on to the "fun" (turns and moves). He was very accommodating, we thought the new facility was great, and we can hardly wait to continue.

It was very important that my fiance feel comfortable and want to take the lessons. Jesse and the facility hooked him. He's going to be a dancing fool.

Dance Necessities is a small studio in Boise. It's much bigger than their original space. The teaching is excellent. Jessie and Kahale are the only two instructors in Boise competing at the national level. They are fantastic teachers; in fact they spend every other weekend in San Francisco where the demand for them makes it definitely worth their while. So if you want top flight instruction in Boise, there is only one place to go. www.DanceNecessities.com

I've been dancing since I was 8 and I have to agree that Jessie and Kahale are pretty decent instructors. I don't compete, I'm not that good, so hats off to them.

As far as the rest of the instructors, especially the one that was named above, I'll have to agree. They've spoken rudely to me and she in particular was cold and aloof and looked very angry most of the time. I would go back for Jessie and Kahale, but they should pay more attention to the instructors they hire.

The teaching is good quality, but the way they run their business is so chaotic. They used to offer a lot of classes. It was wonderful to have so many choices, especially for those of us who can't afford private lessons. They have dropped the vast majority of their classes, moved the time of their class to much later. They are now catering more towards those students who can afford private lessons. Private lesson students get special "treatment"... even get their own keys to the studio. Those of us who can't affford private lessons have A LOT fewer choices.
The class times keep changing, the prices keep changing, the staff keeps changing. I have liked them as teachers, but they need to decide on one business format and stick with it. Maybe the reason why the one instructors was angry all the time is becuase she had become frustrated like my husband and I have been.
I would go for the teaching quality, but if you are looking for consisancy in the way they run the business, look out!

I ended up at the dance studio one day to take group lessons. I had never danced before...not even in clubs and to top it off I had two left feet . In no time at all I could do the Cha, Cha, Cha, Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Swing, and Salsa. I was hooked on Dance Necessities and Jesse and Kahale's commitment to seeing all their students succeed at dancing.
I would and I have recommend Dance Necessities to all my friends, coworkers and casual acquaintances.
The cost for the group lessons as well as the private lessons are very reasonable and affordable. I would suggest to anyone who is new to dancing or a seasoned veteran of the dance floor to give Dance Necessities a try!

We have since moved to another studio south of the freeway. The flooring at Dance Necessities is very hard and it hurt my shins and joints everytime I finished dancing.(I am well into my middle age)
The flooring with our new studio is floating and wood. I feel great when I finish dancing! The studio is beautiful and in a new building in a safer part of town. I love the fresh approach our instructor has and brings a much bigger sense of community between us and the other dancers that she teaches.
Jessie's place is fine. But our great instructor, the other students and the beautiful facilities sold us hands down! I know that my joints have enjoyed our dancing much more fully.

This is not to say, however that the teaching quality was bad. In fact the teaching quality at Dance Necessities was very good. I just needed a better facility that didn't hurt my joints as much. So all you 20 and 30-somethings, go out there and kick up your heels to your hearts desire!

My wife and I just took a swing class at Dance Necessities and it was so much better than I expected it to be. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. The class was actually three swing classes and it was really cool to have it all explained in a way that we could understand. The whole group of us had a blast and we are looking forward to learning more.

This may be considered as spam but I have recently started dancing and want to find other people in Idaho who dance similar dances to what I do. Things like Shuffle, JumpStyle and Hardjump, Tektonic, and things like that, which go along with various techno and dubstep types of music. Anyone dance these or know of anyone/anywhere that does?
