Honestly, I was standing at Citgo, and when that happened, I looked at what had just happened and how to help in the quickest way possible. I did not look at the traffic light to file a report. I wrote that posting because I had read an article in Newsday. Not to say it could not have been the way it was reported, but to say one person ran a light and the other person, travelling west, going through that same light did not, seems unjust. Regardless, lives are changed forever, and one gone too soon. You can't really ask the question or make the statement that maybe someone thought the other would stop, maybe the other thought something else...the laws are the laws, and you cant resolve them by peoples thoughts in a split second. And if the light was red, no one had to proceed as you say, its a red light.

When you are making a left hand turn, you are supposed to pull into the intersection to make the turn, as that is safer than starting from the line to make the turn (that takes longer and causes t-bone crashes). So my point was, if she was in the intersection waiting to turn and the light changed to red, she HAD to complete her turn to get out of the intersection. I know I expect oncoming traffic to stop when the light is red, I wait until I know for sure because, like you, people do not know how to drive.

Aside from childish insults, which seem to be the norm here for some reason im sure people will see it one way or another no matter what. point is its a tragedy, and for people to joke about it, or for people like yourself to insult because you are holier then thou and apparently drive around with a manual and are perfect, someone lost a life, period. And at times, it can be avoided, but not to point all of the blame at one person was the point. My apologies to you "ugh" for us less perfect people who can not grace your existing perfection.

You'd have to be crazy to ride a bike around here with all of these distracted, self-absorbed drivers on the road. Let god reduce the heard how he wants to
