i was told by a person that lives in Bogata that the city law doesnt follow the rules that they should when handing out justice. He told me that the chief told him that it doesnt matter what the law was he would dole out justice the way he wanted and would get by with it because it would be his word against the POLICE. In small towns that is about what it takes to be guilty whether you are or not!!! what do yall think of them???

The only people who have a problem with the Bogata PD are the one's who are breaking the law. The law doesn't have to cater to the lawbreakers, they are there to protect the one's who need it.

Bogata is a good town. I do believe they have too many officers. Crime is just not that bad, and would be less if the Police there now would be more viligent.

@Bogata, of the second post, you are sadly mistaken in your assertion that only lawbreakers are disappointed in how the police (namely 'chief' Clegg) have handled matters in our town over the past few years. And if you think he gave a damn about protecting the innocent, you must be smoking something potent. He refused to follow state law time and again, in more than one matter. But what are we to do? Where do you go to complain, when the police chief doesn't understand what his job is? He had illusions that he was district attorney and grand jury all in one, in refusing to even file reports. That's not what his job is supposed to be. Handy way to keep a good record as chief, if you hand pick what crimes are reported, isn't it? After seeing this crap time and again, I'm a little jaded, but I do hope that the new chief is better. Anything would have to be an improvement.

Officer Short from what I've heard is a very good guy. He seems to keep his ego in check which is more than I can say for Amy. She is a little over zealous, and needs to keep a handle on her ego it appears. Hopefully, David will be keeping a close eye on her ego.

David Short is a GREAT guy and a GREAT officer. Bogata should be lucky to have such a great Chief. He will go to great lengths to see that he has done everything he can for you.

I have to disagree with Miss Kitty as far as Amy Guest is concerned. I encourage Miss Kitty to go through an academy and obtain a job in Law Enforcement as a woman. What comes across as over zealous is actually a woman in law enforcement trying to survive on your streets. She is not going to take crap off of anyone. Keep up the good work Amy.

Someone in Bogata doesn't know what they are talking about. Most of the whiners are the ones who do illegal things and get caught then whine because they think they should not have to follow the law. I live here and am very glad we have a Police Department and very satisfied with our new chief. If you don't know what you are talking about, SHUT UP!!!

I'm just going by what I've observed. Amy appears to be a good Officer just a little too zealous. That of course could be she is still a little green. I do believe she is a nice person who will adjust under Officer Short's guidance. I did not mean to make it sound like she was bad. I just think she is still new, but feel she will get better with experience. As we all do in a new profession. I'm so impressed so far with the job the Officers have done. They seem to be on top of the break-ins, and I believe they will make Bogata a safer place in the long run.

I just have visited Bogota and have first hand experience from Chief Shorty and also officer Amy I believe... all this talk about police work and critisism, "guys police are there in the world for reason" they are human and believe me there is not a single person in this world who can not be talk bad about so please before making any comments on anybody why not look our self in mirror without any make up and put your self in their shoes and than think WWBD... What would Bubba do? I have nothing but good thing to say about them officer that they are doing their job... you do yours and let them do theirs... Thanks
