I, as a citizen of Boca Raton, do thank you.
And the majority of the decent people of Boca Raton do truly appreciate the fine police force we have.

In America you don't necessarily get paid for what you do, but in relation to how many people can do your job (i.e. a baseball player making $40,000 per at bat). If there weren't so many openings in So. FLA law enforcement agencies, the pay and benefits would not be what they are. But try and find young people in great numbers in this area who haven't screwed up their lives on drugs/alcohol, been arrested, have a clean driver's license, have earned a college degree or served in the military, can pass various tests (physical, mental, & psychological), and have the maturity to carry out a police officer's duties. It is a dwindling job pool and gov't agencies have had to step up to attract applicants. I even won't go into the dangers associated with law enforcement, I accepted them long ago. The papers should be a daily reminder to us all as brave law enforcement officers across this country sacrifice their lives in defense of their communities. We don't ask for your thanks but we certainly appreciate it when offered. But please don't show such contempt for how we provide for our families. Frankly, none of us know how long we may be around to care for them.

Then you pay for the raise all by your thankful self. The economy is in the tank, people are taking pay cuts, losing their jobs and most everyone is being hurt badly by the housing market. Now is not the time for any increased spending of any kind!!!!

I left Boca PD many years ago. One of the reasons was because of the pay. I'm still in law enforcement in New Jersey. I get a take home car so that I can respond from my home if I'm needed. I love law enforcement, but I still remember Boca Raton Police Department as one of the best. You get what you pay for. Guys live where they do, because that's what they can afford. Do you want the most qualified officer when you make that 911 call? Cops do know what they're getting into when they take the job, but they take it anyway.

You're right, there will no doubt be unrest and riots in the streets soon. We will need our police officers more than ever!

They should all go out and have a drink to celebrate the screwing over of the public again. Remember the DUI Boca Cop that killed himself. They can toast to what a great guy he was.
I know who you are, I remember that you got to keep your job even though you are a drunk who has ripped the CIty off for years.
You are nothing more than a piece of s hit and one day you will regret what you wrote here.
