It never said in the article that the police brought her over to ID the guy-THAT is why they shouldnt have arrested him.geez sometimes it hurts to read the replys . Also if you think you should always believe the cops..........YOU MUST BE CRAZY.look what the cop in NYC did to the bike guy an then arrest him for running in to him with his bike an resist arrest!!! NEVER TRUST A COP! They should have on film everything they do. Sorry to say lost all faith in police.
I know the article never said she id'd the guy and I never said the article did. What I said was IF she id'd the guy and that is usually one of the steps that cops do. I am saying IF she gave them a positive ID what else are the police supposed to do?? I admit I have not read the report. I was commenting in general that unless the police officer blatantly and obviously violated something that a reasonable person in the same position would have immediately known was wrong, then ok you might have a case. But if the situation is monday morning quarterbacked for years and some people this or that also could have been done, that does not make for a case of giving everyone money. Why do we award someone millions of dollars because they spilled hot coffee on their lap. Oh they did not know it would be THAT hot. Now Sweeting was fired for allegedly altering crime stats. How much faith in his "expert" testimony?? Sounds like he has an ax to grind with his former employer. Also interesting it was settled for just the amount that is the limit before any award of money from a state government entity has to be approved by the entire Florida Legislature.

Actually Sweeting was not fired...he was the one who uncovered the altering of crime stats which resulted in a Captain and the chief at the time being forced to retire. Sweeting was then appointed Acting Chief....all you need to do is run his name in the sun sentinel archives for all the facts/news articles about the incident....

There you will also discovered that Sweeting also reported Former Chief Andy Scott's unethical conduct to the city, FDLE and Florida Ethics Commission where the Governor fined Andy Scott and reprimanded him. Scott was ultimately forced to resign from the city.

Stephanie Lynn was never robbed afterall!!!!
She fabricated the whole story. ITS TRUE! There is still a lawsuit pending. She no longer lives in the state of florida. She is in DEFAULT for not answering an earlier subpoena for which she was served. We need to hear why Stephanie Lynn made up this story to begin with... putting this innocent man through the horror of the justice system for no reason whatsoever!!!

Ok, if she fabricated the story then her A-/S/-S needs to be hung out to dry. Why is the city to blame if she fabricated the story, perhaps made a knowingly false ID, etc?? She should be liable in civil court for it. This is just going to open a can of worms I think.

You sound like a cop...if so that is unfortunate.Just who are "these people" as you describe? I suspect if this person was one of your family members you would view things differently. And maybe you should read the case before you make such judgements....it is all public record.
It is your ignorance (people/cops) like you that cost the taxpayers in such cases. Until you have been victimized by the system you will never have a clue what it must feel like.....but I suspect you don't really care....
I hope you make a comment like you just made when someone ever tries to assault you . What do you think the first number you call will be if you are in trouble? 911 right? I am not a cop, have nothing to do with them. Some of them are bad and some of them are good, but without them you would be whinning like a little baby with all the crime that would be going on. Start appreciating people that put their own lives on the line for ordinary people.Even people like you who probably complain all the time. They dont get paid shit, and yet they still do dangerous jobs. Where do you work? Behind a desk somewhere? You would probably cry like a little baby if you had to wear that uniform and deal with the shit that they deal with. I would appreciate every man and woman who would put their lives on the line. I dont appreciate people that critisize others when they have not walked in their shoes. Stop Complaining!!!!!!!!!

I recently read news here that this case went on for many more years.
The poor guy was a military veteren and suffered from PTSD and OCD. He became mentally and financially bankrupt. Now he is finally collecting money from the stupid sick girl who started the whole thing.
Hope she lives in hell the rest of her life and rots in hell when she dies.
She must be evil. F__ K the cops too !!
