Councilman Anthony Majhess likes to talk. A lot. It's a character trait the slender 40-year-old readily admits. Full Story

I was hopeful for this guy. But they will turn him. The City of Boca is back to the good old boy system, generating money by hurting the city. They think they do a good job, but businesses are getting out of Dodge. Boca Raton needs a new city manager and Mayor

i hope the corruption does not hinder him. the mayor and other council members are just talking heads for the developers and their friends. We need the feds to investigate the govt of boca raton, just like they did with the palm beach county commission

Mr. Majhess remember why you were elected. The vast majority of the Boca voters are sick of the elitist crook schmooks who have infested the Boca Council. Don’t bow to the arrogant overbearing crook schmooks; stand up for those who elected you. Hopefully, someday soon the Larry, Moe, and Curly Feds will move on down to Boca and Delray and cart away al these self centered loser crooks. In the mean time stand fast. They got piggo Mary and hopefully soon will get her brethren in lower PBC.

MJ "MIke"....he was running around Boca way back in 1988. Just like all career politicians, it's about time he was put out to pasture.

Now get rid of the rest of them!

Nice. Boca has a new kid on the block, promising CHANGE HOPE OPEN-GOVERNMENT BLAH BLAH BLAH.. Mr Smith goes to Washington. In a few months, he will settle right into the establishment after his political campaign rhetoric is forgotten. I suspectthat if he continues to be a rebelrouser, the powers that be, will seek to f'up his job as a firefighter. After all, it is a government position that can be messed with; and if he ruffles too many feathers I would assume his enemies will seek to mess up his job as a means to sterilize him . Yup....mess with the big boys and they will mess back. So, in no tinme, he will become yet another cronie who will be forgotten. You watch...he is a small flea who thinks himself a wasp at present.

Can he listen while he is talking so much? Hope so.You have had so many community killers like Betty, Ester,Dave and the biggest loser of all Carol all who only can say "we like it the way it is" and absolutely are responsible for this now second class City. Yeah I wish it was 1984 and IBM had bought Microsoft and that loon Bob Graham did not chase away the great engineering jobs and Corporate America, and Boca Teeca didn't force the elimination of another connection to the Ocean blah blah blah.Hopefully he just looks at the facts and is his own man. Boca has had it share of bad actors who think they are "Developers" and now are Chapter 11. No real long term investment in the community and lots of arrogance so we all agree on that. There is a reason why your downtown, north federal highway and the Arvida Business Park look the way it does . Its called the whiners who do nothing but whine and make bad decisions all for populism. Get off your butts and do something PRODUCTIVE based in fact or is that harder than writing another weennie and not so smart comments in a really bad newspaper. The elected officials should ask and demand that all policies and status of investment initiatives be transparent and then demand a timeline and next steps. Anthony can use his energy to do this ,all of this while he is learning the facts and not creating the gridlock friction that the worse Mayor of all time created. You can call it the lost years and thank you Carol. Glad I moved away. You are in a irreversable downward spiral until the masses step up and out the community killers for what they are. Angry, unhappy complainers. By the way the big boys left years ago and that is another reason why you suck.

WAIT UNTIL HE IS THERE FOR AWHILE. HE WILL BE MADE TO SHUT UP. THE COUNCIL ARE JUST AS CROOKED AS PBC
COMMISSIONERS. IN FACT, DIRTY BAG MARY MCCARTHY WAS VERY CLOSE TO THE COUNCIL. AND WE KNOW WHERE SHE IS. THANK GOD. LET US CLEAN HOUSE.

Actually if you ask even the dissatisfied they will tell you that Mary was at war with Boca's leaders which is one of the reasons she is in jail and she was worse than a dirtbag.3.5 years and watch her become a highly paid operative when she gets out. She has Nicole from the SunSentinel and Patty, Jack etc to drive all of you to believe all sorts of vile garbage.I doubt anyone will make Majhess shut up.

This guy's voice is needed. There always needs to be someone questioning.

Those who have been in office a long time, become jaded, newly elected officials have the energy and aren't hampered with preconceived ideas.

Good for this guy....Keep at it.

The school board has another guy that isn't afraid to ask questions and he too is from Boca. Barberi...like the guy.

He has tried to save money, he asks good questions, but it does seem Barberi is being hammered down, just like this guy, by the "old" politicians.

Like to hear those "new" voice instead of the same old, same old. That's vibrancy.

Wellington has a guy who does the same thing...not afraid to go against the grain and that brings good discussion.

Everyone is so quick to judge. Let's give the guy a chance. He got elected by the people to represent the people. The other council memebers have established relationships with developers, attorneys, unions etc and owe favors. At this point he only owes the citizens. Let's support Majhess in doing his job. Show up to meetings and speak out openly rather than hiding behind your computers and criticizing. If he's as "green" as Siemon makes him out to be (which I doubt), it may be a good thing!! Does steep learning curve mean he has to learn to bend to the Land Use Attorneys and Developers?

The Counsil's comment about not wanting the committe to be open to the public says it all. God forbid the public be allowed scrutiny or opinion on how their tax dollars are being wasted. I hope that comment resonates in your minds, Boca. Your Commission doesn't want to hear from you at all on anything, ever!

If you think change cannot happen, look to your brethren in Oakland Park. Although the change is not complete yet (still trying to "unload" the city manager), we did remove some "cronies" from the commission and installed some new faces...and yes, things are changing for the better. It just takes time, some competent people to step forward who are willing to put up with the politics for awhile, and are willing to take the chance to make good things happen.

Maybe the Feds will help the citizens "take apart" the commission...some day; but until that happens, you need to find some people willing to run against the political machine. Boca is no longer a geriatric ward anymore, nor is it a technology center - far from it.

You, the citizens, have the power to make change. If we can do it in Oakland Park, you can do it in Boca.

OMG!!!(Oh My God) you are right! What could they be up to in this so called business development committee?? We don't want more jobs or businesses coming here! We want to pay higher taxes or have reduced services just to keep all of those people from moving here or reducing traffic by having jobs nearby our homes. I like the smell of mold so leave us alone, alright!

R u jokin me? The 2 Susies are class acts and have done nothing but work selflessly for this community for years. Mike M volunteered to help the west areas representation which was really needed when Peter had to step down and is a good , fair ,honest man. Constance is a real breath of fresh air and will do great things. Anthony will hopefully see thru the whining dummies like you and make the hard decisions needed to be a leader and get this community moving again. And as it relates to MJ Mike - he only in office a few years and got hammered for trying to stop the mob union firefighters from getting a 4% raise when the rest of the world was near collapse., otherwise all he did was create thousands of jobs and help the small businessman/woman for 25 years. What have you ever done other than throw sh-t at people that actually do positive things for this City?

Guess Charlie Siemon needs to make that comment about the new council member having to learn a lot more since he doesn't kiss up to him like the other city officials do.

CFA has been a total failure and all the City does is keep pumping money into an organization that is led by people that don't know the least bit on how to run special events.
