Hi,
Wondering if it was Wyngalan Kennels?(News story on 2-22-07). Does anyone know? Thanks, Joanne |

No it was not it was an amish farmer. Wyngalan is still in business as far as we know and handling "Teddies"

You refer to Wyngalan so negatively? Why? I personally do not know the people that run the place but I do have personal interaction with two dogs that came from there and they are the most wonderful "teddies" ever! Mixed breed -- whatever! Healthy, happy, extremely loving dogs that anyone would be proud to have as a family member.

I bought my teddie from there and she is the happiest dog I have ever owned. Not to mention the people were very helpful and caring. Stop making fun of them

I worked for Wyngalan Kennels (Happy Puppies) for a few years before I knew the definition of 'puppy mill'. This place fit the definition to the extreme. They had hundreds of different breeds, and these breeding dogs were kept in wire cages and were never allowed out to exercise. The only time they were allowed to leave their cages was when they were moved to a breeding pen. As an employee, I was not allowed in this barn, or shed, where these dogs were kept, but the one time I did go in, I was horrified. These dogs were mangy, their nails were long and sticking through the wire bottom of the cages, and there was barely enough room for the dogs to turn around. I could go on and on... my only regret was that I was ignorant at the time and didn't report them to the authorities.

Another thing I want to mention are the truckloads of dogs that were driven to the local vet EACH WEEK to be 'put down'. These dogs were not adoptable or sellable because of the extreme amount of time they'd spent in cages, or simply to make room for the newer puppies.

I responded to a post from Mike, and it has not appeared. I don't think I said anything inappropriate. All I did was defend our business, Wyngalan Kennel. Everything said in the post from Mike, is untrue. We do not know him. He has never worked for us. We have never bred "hundreds" of breeds, our dogs are always kept groomed and healthy, we've never had a mangy dog here, we do not cart our old dogs to be euthanized, they are retired and we always have a happy geriatric crew who follow us around all day. Old dogs do not adjust well to change and this is their home and pack. They do not want to leave. We let them stay. We are retired now, we closed the boarding kennel, the groom room, the Happy Puppy Shelter, and are now only breeding a few Teddies each year, which are almost always spoken for before they are even born -- due to our good reputation and the ethical choices we make. It is possible to run an excellent kennel. All kennels are not puppymills, which I am in no way defending, having been the humane officer for much of this area for many years. I hope you print this because we have many, many valued clients in the area, 30 years worth, who might read this and so, while I usually would not respond, in this case I feel I must. Jacquie

My wife and I have purchased three (3) Bichons from Wyngalan in the past. All were adorable, affectionate, smart and well behaved pets. I only regret they no longer breed Bichons. We currently have a Teddy and are looking for a companion for our Eddie. If we invest in another Teddy; it will definately be from Wyngalan.

Thanks Randy, I so appreciate your speaking up for us. Public relations work for a kennel can be a nightmare. So many people are quick to jump to the conclusion that all breeders run horrible puppymills. A well run kennel is a happy place but people don't know that because all they see are the horrible places that make the news. These places no more relate to a kennel than a prison relates to a summer camp. Truly, it is clients like you who make all that we do feel worthwhile, and are the best advertsing we have.
I would be happy to place another Teddy in your home. Jacquie |

We have also adopted 2 dogs from Happy Puppies. They were both healthy and happy. They are now 14 and 12 years old and I am sad to see that the kennel is closed. I think these people did a great service to the area dogs by taking in the unwanted litters from irresponsible pet owners. I'm quite sure they were not breeding the puppies they were adopting out for very reasonable prices. One of the dogs we got from there is still somewhat indistinguishable in breed. We figure he's a mix of whatever happened to be passing by the farm that day. He may be a little goofy looking but he's also the best dog I've ever had!

I cannot say enough good things about this kennel! They have helped mend my heart after I lost my American Eskimo in 2006.
Three years ago, I was picked by the most adorable Teddy and he has become my greatest companion! I have recommended Wyngalan Kennels to everyone who is looking for a wonderful puppy. So far, 5 other people I know have added to their families with these wonderful additions. The grounds were well kept, the dogs and puppies were happy, well groomed and very friendly. I have to add that I truely believe they are a few of the angels among us. Thank you for the wonderful service you provide and your caring nature. |
