Use flyspray.

We have them too! They keep coming up from the drains some how. We've been pouring bleach down the drain, the vinegar and dawn in a jar, even got some strong insect spray. They still come in. I'm beginning to think maybe there's nothing that can be done....LOL

It might be a while for them to die, but the most important thing is to never leave fresh fruit out and never put a fruit peel, especially a banana peel in the trash. Anything they can feed on should be taken out immediately. IMHO

Just a small squirt of any dish soap will do. It breaks the surface tension of the water allowing more fruit flies to drown. Beer bottles, wine glasses left out will also attract them. You can actually use an ounce or two of beer with a small squirt of detergent, too. I suggest many wide mouths flat dishes set around, we call the salsa dishes.... By morning they'll be full and you can start over again. No tomatoes on your windowsills, are there???

Oh, you could use saucers, too. No water, just the *poison* with a drop of soap......

take white vinegar, put it in a bowl and add dishwashing liquid to it.. sit it on a counter and it attracts the flies.. they can't get out.. takes about 30 min to attract them..

You might try using root bear [sic]. It supposedly works for mice. See another topic here in Blytheville Topix.

But, when you talk about that thread, you have to throw the bottle at the fly. They're harder to hit than a mouse!

open a zip lock bag and put a piece of banana in there. I was told that worked better than the apple cider and soap

What does that do to trap or kill them?
Sounds like it only attracts them

Sit a glass with wine in it on your counter. The fruit flies will drown themselves in it. This is not a joke it works

Or pour yourself a glass of wine. They will FIND you, then you can walk them outside, LOL! No joke! You do have to chugalug it though, because no matter how hard you try, one will get in your glass.

This really works: apple cider vinegar with a little bit of dishwashing liquid. I put several bowls around the kitchen and you wouldn't believe how many fruit flies it kills. It is almost immediate that they swarm to it and in just about a day they are all dead. You will see them dead in the vinegar bowl in a very short time. :-)

They are gnats. Most people call them fruit flies because they swarm fruit and veggies. They are coming from the sewer. Gnasty huh?!?!
