does anyone know of any free dental programs or a dentist that does work for free or on a good payment plan. i have the absolute worst toothache...my wisdom teeth came in about 5 months ago and crowded all my lower teeth and now nerves are exposed and the pain in almost unbearable at times. does anyone have any information of what a person could do if they don't have insurance or a lot of money...or any money for that matter?????

thanks

It sounds like you're going to need your wisdom teeth removed. The dentists here send their patients to Memphis or Jonesboro for that.

BUT, have you called the local dentists to see if someone will see you for free or at least set up a payment plan? I'm going to be disappointed if none of our local dentists do this at all.

Called Lepanto and even though its an emergency and im am in awful pain they cant get me in till mid of Jan. If you find anyone please update this so i can also get this tooth to stop hurting...

Did you try West Memphis, too? Another poster said there was a place there.

Did you actually call the dentists in Blytheville and get turned down?

Good luck. I hate that you and Ouch are in pain. Really, I don't know what the answer is. I understand dentists have to make a living and all that, but I would have hoped that they would offer some payment plans for people without dental insurance or who are having financial problems.

I'm still thinking about your situation.

If you attend church, would you feel comfortable asking your pastor for assistance? I think each church has funds for helping people, don't they?
(And if they don't, I'd be curious about why not).

If you don't attend a particular church, I think you should call the local churches and ask for help. They won't give you money, but they will (hopefully) pay the dentist. If it's going to be really expensive, maybe some of the churches could go in together.

And what you really should do, if you find a church that will help you, is to tell them you want to set up a payment plan with them! They'll probably say no, but that doesn't mean you can't still send them $ each week until you've paid them back. That way, they will have money to keep helping others in need.

Thanks so much for the thought you have put into my issue .... that is something I really would have never thought to do is ask the church but I am not in shape at the moment to do anything else..and with the holidays around the corner I have to really pinch pennies..my husband and i both have a job ..just neither one of them offer insurance ..personal insurance is to expensive and the dental plans have like a 6 month to 1 year wait before you can use them and i have been in pain for a week straight ...i so wish they had the free clinic open.

Try to get some pain pills until you can have the problem corrected. Constant pain puts too much stress on the body. Take the smallest amount that will help reduce the pain. Dentist are aware that people with severe pain need relief. Maybe a pharmacist can help.

East Arkansas Family Health Center is the name of the clinic in Lepanto. They do excellent dental work and the fee is based on your income. Good luck.

Anyone who can't afford dental treatment can also go to the Jonesboro Church Health Center, in Jonesboro of course, it is on Matthews, downtown. You should be able to find it in the phone book. You have to call and make an appointment to be assessed and then they will make you an appt. to see a dentist. There are several dentist involved with them and once you are a patient through the church health center, you rotate to a different dentist every month until you are taken care of. It used to be completely free to those that qualified, but I don't know if it is that way anymore. Or you can also call the University of Tennessee Dental School in Memphis, all treatment there is done by the Senior dental students and is based on your income. You can get very good quality dental work done there, they are students and may be a little slow, but they are getting graded on everything, so they do an excellent job. Hope this helps, good luck!!!

It looks like some others have given you some good, solid leads. I hope they work out. When I said you could pay the church back, please don't think I meant a lot of money. I just meant what you could when you could. I hope one of these leads helps you and others who are in your situation. Much luck to you.

Also get some antibiotics because if it is infected they can't do anything anyway!
