I was in from '71-'78. I had school at Millington in '72, then I went to EL Toro, CA for a couple months, then another school in Florida for a month or so. They then sent me to Cherry Point, NC for about 28½ months, then I went to Iwakuni, Japan for 13 months. After I got back from Iwakuni, I was stationed at LT(A) in Santa Ana, CA (actually Tustin, but they called it Santa Ana) until I got out. I worked at all 3 of the Mobile Calibration Complexes that the Marine Corps had at the time. Less than a year before IO got out, they sent me to Lowry AFB in Colorado for TACAN/IFF school, but I was still technically stationed at LT(A) during that time. My MOS was 6683. I realize this is more information than you asked for, but I thought it might help you decide if you knew me.

Yeah, the Marine Corps may be the smallest (and most elite) branch of the service, but it still has a LOT of people in it. Semper Fi

I lived in Kingsbay for several years. From 80-84. My daughter was born in Jacksonville Fl. When we got to the base there was almost nothing there. My x was stationed on the Oakridge. That is a dry dock for the subs. I was 19 and he was 21. I had the time of my life. We lived in Kingsland. I was a waitress at Kings Bounty cafe and there was a bar in town called The Flowing Well Lounge. We didnt have a car so we walked everywhere. We had the best friends any one could ever want. Sailors and Marines. I had never left Arkansas before and I was amazed at the rest of the world. Got married in Woodbine Ga. Tell your nephew to have a ball. Kingsbay is great or used to be. Its been 24 since I left. Millington was great too. My x is still there. He is from Mass. but once he went south he never went back. I guess the Yankees can call him a traitor! GOD BLESS your nephew. Our prayers are always with our boys.

Thank you!! He was born in Jax. His mom is in Atlanta. I guess you could say he is almost home. He wanted to move to J'boro to be a cop since his uncle is with C.I.D. there. His time was up and they gave him a BIG re-up bonus so he stayed. Thak you all for the well wishes. All the men and women need our prayers here at home as well as the sands.

It would be well worth your time, and if you have a 9 year old and a 3 year old, I am sure you could use a night out.

LOL!!!

We had a family reunion today at the old bikers club. There were many good singers and musicians there. I kinda planted a seed in one of the ears of a family member's mom. Her son is kinda known around these here parts. I wont name drop just yet. I'll talk to the hubby and see what he thinks about next Fri.

God bless the men and women who serve our country and have served and keep us safe at night. I have a ton of respect for anyone who would give that much for a country that gives back very little.
