I heard that in the morning when we get off(12 to 8 crews) will be told if they are getting laid off. They claim they have four law enforcement officers coming up there in the morning so that the people that get laid off will not start any problems. I have heard so many rumors so I really don't know which is true. They say that they are cutting all the shifts out that work 12 to 8 crews and just having two shifts. I sure hope they just don't go through and lay off the whole shift that they at least place us somewhere else on another crew.
I really hope its not true but keep us updated on this.

The 65 line is going back to 3 crews on Monday, so much for that layoff theory. Things must be picking up?
Anyway, I expect the drug testing that is coming up will keep more from getting layed off.

justa random drug test with no just cause seams a bit extreme [ yes] and would this been a determining factor for lay offs and if so i smell a law suit for sure test for injury, test for accident, test for extensive property damage, but for job security when you all ready work there thats not right for new hires i can see for condtion of employment but if you were hired back in the day when there were no drug test i would say no your not going to pee but so it would be impossible to up hold but i hope i miss read your comment and i am wrong but hey its great to see there are others out here

Global News reported that a company that makes drilling pipes for the oilpatch will temporarily shut down its Calgary plant in response to low oil and gas prices.

Tenaris Prudential told its staff on Monday that it will cease operations for six days, beginning on Jan. 23.The temporary shutdown will affect 400 employees in Calgary.

Arkansas is a right to work state, they can fire you for no reason. A union is a waste of time here.

Your correct, there are several states around the country that have the same laws..ie right to work laws.
A union is useless here.

So how do the Calgary operations look now? Is everyone back to work? Do you feel what management is telling you is correct?
