Monte needs to man up and take care of nucor that is already in place. If Big River is started Nucor will have to move production to an area that actually cares. Beebe is lame duck and we do not need to eat the soup or drink the kool-aid. To much of this socalled project will have money pouring out of the state vs in. Facts are facts--no rose colored glasses on this face.

Stupid you think Nucor doesn't have capacity to run all of Hickman's material at its other mills? The best sheet mills are only running at 70 percent!

How do ya'll know all of the steel mill capacity information for the other mills? Are the stats printed out on cards or something?

Here is up-to-date domestic capacity information:

http://www.steel.org/en/About%20AISI/Statisti...

(it doesn't break it down per steel company or per mill, but it underlines that domestic steel capacity utilization is down to 75.5%)

Here is an article from November of 2012 that highlights the fact that the steel industry is at over capacity:

As a matter of fact it is published every month, each mill has a known capacity and reports tons produced and tons shipped. Thus you can figure current capacity. The market is over saturated.

Yes, they are looking very desperate. Didn't all those bigwigs out at Nucor ever take a business or economic class? New companies create competition, which is actually GOOD! It makes both mills work hard to be the best. Guess they just want to sit on their lazy butts and print off big ads in the paper instead of facing competition. Sad. River Steel will roll them over then.

No steel company wants more capacity. Nucor iz already working their buttz ofc to provide high quality steel that is delivered on time. That is the only way they can survive against the gluf of cheap foreign steel.

Nucor will survive either way, but the Hickman mill in particular will not only cancel their expansion, but will lose some of its capacity to other mills.
