hey just curious. I am looking to go to beauty school. just wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Was looking at Jonesboro, but really don't want to travel. I hear the one main street here in blytheville is pretty good. Can you get a pell grant for that kind of thing? So many questions. guess that's why I am curious. can anyone help?

I am a student of the beauty school here and I think it is great. It's very affordable and no commute. I am very satisfied with how things are going. I have been in since October. You can get a pell grant as well. Just call and ask for Mrs. Coleman and she can help you with getting your information together for your grant paperwork. I hope that you decide to enroll. We all are having a blast!!

"You all" is PLURAL as in "more than one". Only "guess" provided negative feedback. And via Little Rock at that. Hmmm...

i always thought this was a school for black hair only, most white girls don't even do black hair when they get out of school. and vice versa. and i heard a long time ago, the owner was in it just for the money...no real instruction going on.

But have we gotten the sheer volume of CRAP from there that we have via Little Rock lately? And I'm not referring to some of the proposed legislation by the elected representatives we send there.

Ahhhhh......I don't know what to tell you really....If you do decide to go it's not Mrs.C that you have to watch out for it's Mrs.L--

Why should I have to watch out for mrs. L? what's the story there? What does she do there? I called up and got an appiontment to discuss my options. They seem like pretty nice people. I am going to go up this week for a manicure and kind of check things out that way also. I will let you know how it goes.

Bah.....they have them but they aren't that bad bad. But you gota think It's not all there fault. It's an old building and and they can't control that when you share a building like that being so close to other buildings that may be infested. But I will say this all your going to learn is your basics. Don't think that when you get out of school you will know it all. Hands on is your key. Good Luck

Ok so I went to get my manicure. I thought that everyone will really nice. Very cool laid back atmosphere. I got to know a few of the students as well. Manicure turned out nice and so affordable. I really think I am going to sign up. the instructors seemed to be pretty professional for it to be so laid back. they said that you basically learn the basics(the girl that did my manicure) said. But that's with anything I think. You always add you own twist once you get hands on right?I think it's a go!! Beauty school here I come!! thanks for all your help !!

And she will try and make u pay that before she will even think about sendin ur paper work off 2 Littlerock! GO TO JONESBORO OR MARKED TREE. u'll get a way better education and get more out of ur experience!!

If you get your hair done there be careful. As most people know my daughters are biracial. Well my oldest has combination hair. I wasn't sure where to take her too so I took her there and for the first year it was all good....but about the 5th time we went she got a relaxer and about 2 weeks later she had big sores come up on her head. Well, I took her back and forth to the Dr and they said it was chemical burn. I knew better so after 2 weeks of them getting nasty and running green, we got an appointment with a dermatologist and he said she contracted a fungal infection from using hairbrushes that someone else had used, but had not been cleaned properly. My daughter lost her hair on all the places the sores were. Luckily she had long hair and wore it in ponytails all the time. But she suffered alot because they hurt. I called up there and talked to the black lady and she said I signed a Waiver when I signed her in. That wasn't even the point.....I just wanted to let her know that someone was using stuff that wasn't clean, and she told me it was my problem. So that was the last time we went there. Like I said the first 4 times were fine, but the 5th time...was horrid!!

Before I got my License they had a sign up in the front of the building that stated " Students are under supervision of a Licensed Cosmetologist" That's a bunch of bull too!! I remember many of times when Mrs L and Mrs C would leave the premisis together to go out for lunch and leave all the students there unattended! And in the contract that u sign when u start clearly states that u are not to be put on the clinical floor untill u completed ur 1st 500 hrs. They put my on the floor BY MYSELF my 2nd day! Good thing I already knew what I was doin or I wouldve really screwed someone up!!!

For all of u trying to decide on a school I would definetely check out all my options before committing to any school because when u decide u don't like and want to quit or switch schools u still have to pay almost the full tuition depending on how long you have attended. I would recommend checking out marked tree before anywhere else. they might say they have a waiting list but apply anyways because odds are u will get to start the semester u want to anyways thats what happened to me but i had already paid my down payment 4 another school and could not get it back. And if you do go to blytheville keep reciepts for everything you pay the school use checks only!!!!!!!!! If you have anymore questions I would gladly answer them honestly for you, no bullshit or overexagerated incidents.
