Well when you treat the kids, parents and teachers like crap on a long term basis you will see teachers leave the district and parents will put their children in other school districts. The administrative office in Blytheville was on an ego trip for many years, they didn't care about hearing input from the parents and community, it was all about the superintendent, assistant superintendent and the school board. Well now people have other options to educate their children and you know what I say about that--GOOD!
I hope we will continue to see more education options come to Blytheville, hopefully they will respect the opinions of parents and not just offer lip service like the Blytheville district has done for so long.

If you simple minded people would get off your asses and attend a school board meeting, then I may be inclined to hear what you have to say. The district is losing money due to declining enrollment. The Blytheville school system isn't bad, but because close minded people hear stories about, "How bad it is", they decide to pull their kids and send them elsewhere. I will admit that the race ratio is out of control. It is that way because the school board listened to parents and allowed them to remove their kids. So yes, now the majority of students are black. Which gives the school a bad rap, but don't blame the adminastrators.

If you don't blame the admin. Then you have to blame the parents and we spend most of our time on Topix so you know that we are overly brite.

They will be closing the admin. building and moving it to fairview since they do not have a legal charter school. Reform School actually. Also around 80 less employees by next fall. But hey they sent $2000. for new flowerbeds for the admin. building that will be closing.

If they close the Admin building, it will just be another big, empty building sitting in the middle of town. I hope they stay where they are.

What's up with the FLUFF? If you can cut it now, why couldn't you cut it last year or the year before? All of the sudden we see these positions that we don't need and some of them with big salaries. IF WE DON'T NEED TO REPLACE THEM, WHY DID WE NEED THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE?

I don't think the school board had anything to do with telling the parents it was ok to take their children somewhere else. They can send them out of state but not to another school in Arkansas outside their district. There is a law against it. I wouldn't think the board would openly break the law..

I wish they would take all the money. It will teach some discipline and real education instead of wasting it on fluff that the so called wanna be politicians school board members are doing..

WHY HAVE THEY BEEN PAYING THE TESTING COMPANY IF THE SCHOOL CAN DO IT?????

A very dumb statement for a superintendent to make. There should never be fluff in a public school because these are tax dollars and should always be spent wisely. His inexperience is showing here. Bad Bad comment for an educated man.

All these slugs have been wasting the money because it wasn't theirs. It doesn't take much to misuse money that is not your own...and then they ask for more, just like the towns administration, they are very adept at creating new jobs with interesting titles for their friends--and it always costs the taxpayers--we have been taxed and regulated OUT.
The very idea that R L Jones is again running for city council screams the message,--- "GET OUT OF BLYTHEVILLE,(MISSISSIPPI COUNTY)IF YOU CAN."
