Is it really necessary for adults to be smoking on school premises? Considering how we try to prevent youngsters from smoking is a plus but how is this possible when they are walking out of school and the first thing they see are the majority of the pick up parents smoking away at school. Stomp out smoking pamphlets are distributed through the school district, so why not try to set the example from the top. Ban smoking on school premises!!!

Well it sure doesn't seem like it in this neck of the woods! Sure would be nice to actually have this law enforced. You'ld think these people would actually have common sense and not smoke on school grounds. I sure will be addressing this matter to the school board. Hopefully there will be a nice big fine for the people who choose to break the law. We all know the city could sure use the extra revenue. Good luck smokers!!!

Violation of this provision is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $10 to $100.

Go away and enjoy your cheese burgers, french fries, pizza and chocolate candy before they are outlawed also. The food police are heading your way.

So you want the police to stand around at the school and write tickets to people that pull up for 5 minutes to pick up their kids if they have a lit cigarette in their hand or mouth? People are being killed everyday on the streets and you are worried about a smoker that pulls up and want an officer standing there to write a ticket? Wow

The parents can enjoy a cigarette before they leave to pick their child/children up. They should not smoke on school grounds and should be punished for it if they do. I am a smoker, but I do not feel the need to smoke while on school grounds. It will not kill those people to wait until they are home or smoke while they are still at home or on their way.

That is like swatting at a mosquito while ignoring a tornado heading in your direction. When a kid gets hooked on meth or crack cocaine, a lttle cigarette smoke will be the least of your worries. You can kiss your money goodbye and watch your whole world start to fall to pieces. Drug dealers love it when people complain about cigarette smokers because it takes some attention away from them.

Come on people get real. When we break the law we are teaching our children that it is ok to break the law or that we are above the law. It has been shown that criminals started out breaking minor laws and then progressed to more serious stuff. It has also been shown that drug addicts didn't start out with the more serious drugs, most started with tobacco and alcohol. When we condone this behavior we are saying it is ok to do whatever you want.

There may be drugs at the school. No one is going to deny that, but the cigarette smoking is something that the parents can actually control. We wouldn't sit there and do drugs in our vehicles while waiting to pick our kids up. Or at least I hope there aren't parents that would.

Worrying about smoking? And students can't even read or do basic math in school. And I am not taking for the smoker. But there is bigger things wrong with the school system that just someone pulling up to get there kids while smoking. I mean come on people are school system is turning out morons. I don't mean to sound harsh but its true. I really don't thing smoking is the gateway to other drugs. To comparing smoking to crackheads is well comparing a chicken to a cow. The reason kids are monsters is because their parents are monsters themselves.

Fine, you don't think smoking on school grounds is a big deal, even though it really is... most of you just choose to bring up all the other things that are worse when the original subject is about smoking on school grounds... drugs have always been an issue. It's sad, but true. Parent's need to be more involved in their child's life... have more talks about serious issues.. tell them what's right or wrong... All of my friend's in school were on some sort of drug, but I never thouched any of it. You have to let your kid know that you are there for them.. to listen to any problems they have and help solve them...

and the schools are turning out morons?

so let's talk about education. Everyone is worried about our kid's educations... Here is one easy fix. Parents: QUIT BEING LAZY! Take interest in your child's life and education. The things they learn should not stop when they go home.

I work with with my child all the time. It is very important to me that he learns all that he can at school and home. I've worked with him with all sorts of things since he was around 2. Parents these days don't seem to take enough time out of their day to give a shit. They had rather blame the teachers or the school system when their.. say 1st grader, can't even read or do simple math.
