Correnti venture I hope is not backed by Chinese. They have been dumping steel here for decades. Sort of like the wolf marrying the sheep.Legislature needs to be very careful this time. Think past the jobs.

yes the land will be in the name of the city... Call the courthouse in Blytheville and ask what name the property that NYS and Nucor Steel is in. That's what the tax package is all about that they receive for building here.

I think I will make up a bunch of my great chicken salad and come down there to sell it. Sounds good to me....I use to live in Tx. and the lunch vendor trucks made good money too. They sold alot of different items and people were so glad to see that truck come there to where I worked everyday at about the same time. Now there is a job op. for someone too...good luck Miss Co. I think that is great news about the new steel mill and all of the new jobs in the area...seems strange tho to have two very large mills that close together tho....is that unusual???????

Three steel mills close together. There are two Nucors in the Blytheville area (Nucor Arkansas and Nucor-Yamato). There isn't a lot of overlap between the two Nucors, but the news articles today about Big River Steel talk about making sheet steel and going after the automotive and oil & gas industries which will put it in direct competition with Nucor Arkansas.

I think Marion and Manila will be the big winners in this deal.

Nucor-Yamato is mostly I-beams, but Castrip is located at at Nucor-Yamato so there are some coils coming out of it. Nucor Arkansas only makes coils, though. Big River Steel sounds like it will be making coils as well.

Now do we get the new river bridge at Osceola to bring in the workers?

Osceola would have been a wise decision on location. The mills at Blytheville already have access to the river and Osceola is wide open for construction for this mill. One thing for sure, neither city can furnish qualified labor so Marion will have the best labor force to choose from. From what I know,Nucor Steel in Memphis is not doing so well and a lot of Marion and West Memphis people can support the labor force for Osceola. We don`t even count Luxora.
