I made the sauce their for years. You use a gallon of dark vinegar,1 1/2 cups of cayenne, and 1 1 1/2 cups of salt. You shake it a lot every time you want to use it. Its that simple.

The rib sauce is not tomato based. They buy a barbeque sauce from sysco and add grease, vinegar, and salt. TA DA--- Rib sauce.

Yes. I made this sauce for years because I worked there. I made it everyday. The owners try to trick customers into thicking a bunch of seasonings and stuff go into it but it is as simple as I have already posted. Just make sure to shake it well each time you use it. The sauce is good for a very, very, very long time. If you put it in the fridge it will make it slightly hotter over a period of time. If Dixie Pig makes it, I more than likely can tell you how to make it!!

It really is no big secret. The recipe and variations of it are very old. The vinegar based sauce originated in North Carolina a long time ago and made its way across Tennessee and into Arkansas. My Grand Dad, who grew up in Tennessee, used to make a sauce that was almost identical to the Dixie Pig's. Wicker's is actually a variation of the old North Carolina recipes.

I have found it is easier to just buy a bottle at the Pig.
