A Blytheville reserve police officer and local businessman is being investigated for video voyeurism, according to an incident report from the Blytheville Police Department. Chris A. Hardy of 128 Briarcrest has been placed on administrative leave from the police department as the investigation continues. He has not been formally charged. The allegations stem from an incident which apparently occurred on Sept. 29. Two teenage girls, who apparently have utilized a tanning bed in an apartment above a shed in Hardy's back yard, reported that they discovered a video camera recording them while they were tanning. According to the girls, ages 16 and 17, the camera was hidden under some pillows on the couch, and was recording when they found it. The girls said they examined the footage that had been recorded on the camera, and discovered video of themselves getting in and out of the tanning bed, some of it while they were nude. According to the incident report, the girls deleted the video showing them nude, but used their cell phones to take pictures and video of some of the footage. The girls also reported that prior to them being able to go tan, Hardy asked for them to wait about "15 minutes." In previous tanning sessions, according to the girls, Hardy had not requested any delays. In his incident report, officer Kyle Lively said while viewing the video on the cell phone, "I observed someone's arm setting up the camera to look towards the tanning bed. The video did not reveal the person's face that was setting up the camera." Lively's report continued to state that the cell phone images showed one of the girl's "side and back; from that image [she] did not appear to have any clothing on." According to a letter from Arkansas State Police Capt. Henry La Mar, Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson requested the state police conduct a criminal investigation in regard to the allegations. However, La Mar states in the letter that following an assessment of the case, the State Police has opted not to investigate. La Mar also cited limited manpower for the decision. Reserve officers are volunteers, and are not considered full-time employees of the police department. When not on duty, they do not have the same authority that regular officers do. Attempts to contact Hardy for comment were unsuccessful. aweld@couriernews.net

Nothing will happen to this guy. Cops are always looking into something like this. Holes in walls of ladies bathrooms, city wide corruption, etc. They are always LOOKING into something. lol I bet there were plenty of adults at those parties!
