The union makes it hard to get hired there. Doesn't matter if you're a good worker and they like you, what the union says goes.

Who are you trying to kid? The union there is not that powerful. It all depends on when you get there and the need for you, no more, no less. I must say, the union there is not militant or in control..........they do what a union is supposed to do, that being, protect your rights and give you good representation.

Worked for this place for a little while, keeping your job in a certain department has a lot to do with how well you kiss ass to a certain female (Shift Leader) who has worked there all her life out of High School now at 60ish she is bitter that she did not accomplish much in her life ,and another leader that has worked there for many years and has an Anger Management issue. And an apparent choking fetish of the younger male employees working there? So if you get in that department pucker up if you want to keep your job. They have a strict no cell-phone policy that 90% of the employees disregard anyways but if they dont like you they will use it against you to get rid of you. They fired a person for missing four days (he went to a funeral in a different state) family member passed away he came back and was immediately fired. My experience is that with any work place there are cool people and there are those that have nothing better to do than cause drama and problems in this department (mainly the older people) who are maybe threatened by the younger people that are coming in? The main Supervisor of the evening shift seems like a stand up guy no issues with him but i think he should grow a pair , if one of the team leaders go to him with reports of an employee breaking company policy's he should confront the employee with whatever the accusations are determine if the accusations are founded or not and not take the word of a bitter woman and someone with anger management issues , as in any organization being with a company for such along time may lead to some corrupt employees!
Sounds like sour grapes of yer own pickin'!

They terminated my son while he was in the hospital with Pneumonia and he had been there for years. Knowing they would treat him like that hurt him worse than the Pneumonia.

He died !

I hope they rot in hell!

Just like any other place there are some abusive supervisors, but in general, many of the supervisors there are ok. I'm not saying they are perfect but I guess the bad ones make the good ones look bad and it builds a bad reputation for all. I've been there 5 years and had one lousy supervisor and 4 good ones.I gotta say, the lousy one was as bad as they get, but the good ones have been very cool. Anyhow, the work there is booming! Lots of overtime whether you want it or not. Rumor has it expansion is in the future.

Now is a good time to apply there. From what I hear expansion is in the works. For those of you still living in the past, AWHC is now one of the best paying jobs around. Long gone are the days of a bunch of losers working there. If you want to get hired, you must go through the temp services and hope for the best. It is all a matter of being there at the right time and not being a sloucher at work.

Worked there awhile and saw more than I wanted on tank side. Watched them wheel a guy out on a stretcher one night after he had been on the floor doubled up in pain for 30 minutes. The line boss wanted to stop the line but the line supervisor wouldn't let him. They rolled tanks around him and kept the line running all through the incident and while they transported him out. I asked about him for two weeks afterwards and no one seemed to know anything. A month later and his car was still in the parking lot. He was a temporary employee. It's a sad day in the world when the all mighty dollar is worth more than someone's life, no matter who they are. I was let go (no reason)and have no idea what happened to him but I don't think I'd have wanted to work permanently for a company who treated employees like that anyway. Who knows, the next time it could be you.

Yea why would they expand there product sucks just ask the people who work there. Yes people get hurt all the time ive heard of people that have died on the tank side. If a temp gets hurt they fire them right after and they never come back.

If you are interested, now might be the time to apply through the temp agency. The place is very busy and there is talk of a need for more permanent workers on down the line. Worth a try. It sure beats the other alternatives. They are bringing in temps almost daily, some bail out after the first night, some stick with it. It's your choice.

20 temps come in....17 are let go for no reason....That's great odds on a permanent job right there; said no one ever.

I am sorry for your loss, but there has to be much more to this story than we are hearing. Can you elaborate? If what you say is true with no other issues, then you have a powerful lawsuit. Explain?

Folks, now is the time to apply there. A plant in Canada is closing down, the workload is being shifted back to the good ol'e USA and from what I hear, the place is going to be very busy. I do agree, they somehow manage to work temps beyond the limits, but now is the time to try to get on board. What have you got to lose? For a temp agency, the pay is still ok. If you get on permanently the pay and benefits are excellent. S*** or get off the pot!

I worked as a temp for only 90 days and was hired on permanently. Don't miss any days, show up on time, bust your ass and don't complain...that's what it takes to get hired on.
