Are there any head start programs in mercer county that arent for poor kids? My son is too smart to qualify to go to the case headstart based on his "mental abilities" and we arent poor, which basically means he wont get in period. Are there any other programs for children in mercer county?

Do you know how pathetic that post sounds? FYI, if you live in Mercer county, you sure the hell aren`t rich either. So, you are saying that your son is smarter than every single one of those kids that goes to that particular headstart? You sure sound like a winner. With that attitude, let`s just hope your son is nothing like you or he`ll be getting his butt kicked everyday at any school you put him in. I suggest you get your head outta your ass and look around. Your no better than anyone else in this town.

I never said I was better than anyone else. I talked to the administrator of the Case head start administrator and to be eligible to go there, you either have to be below a certain income guideline [which is pretty low] or your child has to have developmental setbacks. We do not qualify and she flat out told me that there would be no way that my child could ever qualify based on the tests she did with him. That being said, I would like some information on other head start programs without income guidelines. Thanks.

Do you think any of the headstarts will accept my son and grandson. They are not to smart and would benefit from any help

Head Start is a waste of taxpayer money. Studies have shown they do very little good.

Just because they go to Case Headstart does not make them "poor"! My children went there and they are very intelligent and we are surely not "poor"!

That`s why this post push my buttons. The poster made it out to sound as if all the children who has went or go to Case Headstart are poor and dumb. That`s not the case at all. How smart does one have to be to get in headstart? I mean, it`s headstart for crying out loud!!Headstart is a choice not a have to.Developmental setbacks? Really? Give me a break lady!

Also, if the headstart wouldn`t let her child in, just maybe he/she wasn`t smart enough as opposed to too smart!

They accept the children that need the most help first , if your child is "smarter" and more at an advantage to succeed in kindergarten he will be fine, you just won't get the " free " childcare by him being in the program instead you will have to pay out of your pocket for a daycare . Sounds to me like your more worried about spending cash than how he would benefit from being there ! The way I see it poor or just plain out loaded some are born gifted and others well they need to work harder , either way they are kids and kids can grow , learn and achieve !

Mercer County schools offer a pre-school program on Cumberland Rd., in Brushfork, and a couple of more locations. It's 8:20-4 m-th or tue-fri (your choice). My daughter went last year and could write the alphabet, her name, some simple words, and recognized numbers and could do some simple addition and subtraction at the end of the school year when she was 4. She gained a lot of social and art skils. She had Mrs. Lilly at the Cumberland location. It's free amd really prepares them for county elementary school in a way the private preschools don't. Check the Mercer County Schools website for all the info.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Leo

Today's Full Moon will affect your love life significantly during the next few months. You might have to say goodbye to someone you care about, or you may realize some difficult truths about your relationship. You may also have to make a tricky decision about a child or a creative project. Although this won't be a very easy time, don't make it worse by over-reacting and turning every hitch into a major drama.
