Mall security is a joke....All I ever see them do is talk to mall shop workers. They never do anything about the kids standing in front of stores blocking them or kids making out near bathrooms. A few years ago someone told me that Cellular one had a shoplifter and called for security and at that time it was the gay woman working and she said she would be there in a minute after she walked her girlfriend to the car.WTF?!?! After the manager leaves for the night its a play land for their employees.

No wonder it is out of control,probably needs a shake up in the management corner.

The mall has always had the police to keep things that goes on out there out of the news.I worked at the mall for eleven years..I have seen rapes comitted there,a little boy's privates was cut off in the bathroom,people waiting on the parking lots that grab purses,a guy in the backseat of an employees car and he raped her,took her car and pushed her out while the car was mobing on the highway..I worked with her and was there when it happened..I warned the other females to check their car before they got in and not to go out alone..there was never any news about this either on tv...think about it,if people really knew what goes on there,they wouldn't come....it would hurt their business...

they are to busy tring to find the next person to tell the elderly around here about boring non-news stuff that they dont have time to investigate what really goes on in this county. i have lived here in mercer county for over 10 years and it seems like every 4 or 5 months they get a whole new round of people on the screen... i personally like to watch the same ppl who know the area and are from here and have connections to here because this way they might feel compelled to let their neighbors in their community know what the hell is going on when good or bad happens....

yea, actually the far better news of this area as well as Tazwell Co and all is W V N S ,WVVA is very poor at best they just do not seem to ever be"where it is at"!

I think WVVA should be called "Beckley News TV",because thats all they give out.They have forgotten they were in Bluefield first( WHIS,i think). If you want to know anything about Princeton or Bluefield news, watch WVNS, out of Ghent. Channel 59. WVVA spends more time talking about cats and dogs than the REAL NEWS. They need to take a survey and get a vote at what people in this area really what to watch on the news. They should tell small or big things happening around here,because it affects someone in this area.

I agree W V N S is far far better and they are located in Ghent-yet they seem to be on top of whatever happens in Bluefield or Tazewell areas....I upgraded my satellite recently after they offered locals SO I COULD GET W V N S &W O A Y ( just to get some idea of state coverage) I was sick of being "stuck" with crappy wvva as the only local I could get.They do not even cover many state stories-they would rather cover a cat in a tree if it was in Beckley.
I feel advertizers are and eventually will get tired of it I have noticed a lot of them now run their ads on W V N S - that says a lot!
If I had a business in Bluefield area I would put my ad dollars to work on WVNS as from people I talk with that is what many are viewing!

WVVA relies too much on weather. Even though southern WV doesnt have much going on, they can still come up with some stories. No instead they like this format... 1. 1 top story that doesnt really qualify for top story 2. First check of weather "RIGHT NOW" 3. couple more stories 4. Weather 5. sports 6. Weather... another look! Im glad they try to keep us up to date on weather. BREAKING NEWS: A huge gaping hole just opened up on route 52..we will have more on that in about 20 minutes but first lets check in with meteorologist Corey Henderson, he has a look at our current conditions right now.

WVVA actually has a home in Beckley. No, you don't see them out trying to find news either. You said it right when you said WV stops in Beckley. We watch wvns/channel 13 news. It covers more happenings in Bluefield than wvva. I still think we need local coverage from local news. If you put all the "how does you garden grow" and other charades aside, you only have 10 mins. or less of news. I don't know how they stay on air.

Yeah I dont think they should even talk about the weather until 15 mins after unless we are going to get some crazy snow/rain/wind/etc...I see bad car wrecks all the time and nothing is ever mentioned...They need to stop hiring these kids that still go to bars and drink and hire adults that actually car about their community, not someone from another state who is just going to use Wvva for a job reference. One of the anchors actually got hired on Fox news..I find that funny since the people on there look like deer in headlights.
