So I read the paper today, there was a robbery at the mall and a man was held at gun point and was forced to give up his wallet. This happened tuesday evening. Why hasn't WVVA news channel 6 reported this? A lot of citizens don't bother to even read the paper and depend on our local news station to report what is going on in our town. The sooner news like this is out to faster the guilty party will be caught. Our news station is so pathetic, guess an appealing report of 'how does your garden grow' is more important than issues like this.

i think they arent updated enough to get the news, or they don't want to deal with real topics in this area. Turn a blind eye tactic, but it doesnt work well, because there are other methods of finding out what is going on around here. The news isnt that great around here, i have noticed. other areas would have made that their topic story and gave police tips on how to survive at gun point. Today the news had fall colors as the topic of the day, lol.

They share in the mentality that WV ends in Beckeley apparently. I think it is also a matter of being bought and paid for because if you think about it when the teenager was raped at the mall not so long ago it was a week or longer before we heard anything about it. I guess the bad press for an already dying mall isn't smiled upon. Good ol Bluefield.

crime is crime and it doesnt reflect on the businesses, it just happens. i heard that someone held up 3 different people in 3 different locations in blfd, one was Kroger. i havent heard anything about it on the news, is it true???

Maybe they need to hire an investigative journalist who would pay attention to what's happening in the community; maybe they could even check with police, fire once in awhile. |

no one can cantrol what happens in their business until its done. its not their fault that some lunatic comes in there store.. communities that cover injustices allow them to continue

Must be a mall employee.

no, im a college student. what i mean is crime happens everywhere and you never know when it is going to happen. i dont understand why WVVA doesnt report it. It isnt a reflection on the mall when a crime occurs, so why hide it. People already know what happened there. It is called poor news casting at its worst.Do you have a problem with someone that does work at the mall??? |
||||
What I meant was WVVA needed employees who cared enough about the community to follow up with informed agencies and report on "what's happenin'". |

how many news vans do u see running the roads. obviously they do not know what news is. How does ur garden grow isnt news, its kinda funny, lol. i think they like to keep the bad hidden, like there isnt other ways to find out whats happening?

They are like an ostrich they keep their heads buried in the sand.They really do not cover anything good or bad that goes on.We all know that crime does happen-it is a fact of life as we know it-the public has the right to be properly informed of local news and events-the facts need to be covered.The facts about crime will not stop shopping BUT will tend to make shoppers more alert to what can happen!Many times WVNS and even Huntington stations have more on their website about this area....D U H!

dont u know peoples safety isnt a concern it is the image that it portrays on the town, lol....this is a lala land retirement town that has their heads in the clouds on real issues, look the other way too long and ya might get bogged down w/ crime, especially when no one is informed of who is committing it. Great strategy huh( u know im joking right, this areas news is crap). i think the crime is really high here as well. to bad people are actually informed in other ways, i never watch wvva.

I have to disagree with you on this one! I worked that night and my boss made the closing staff walk out together and it was reported to all employees of my store anyway- we also had the store security check the parking lot before we went out! we have a good company and they take care of us..the incident happened outside of Jcpenny and it was a male who was held up. The they took his wallet and some other items but was not harmed. Mall security does need to be upped though.. |

I am glad you had a boss who handled it properly! That's great! I have a friend who was working in JCPenny at the time and according to her they were not informed even though it was outside of their store. They were told by a customer and only told what happened when they started questioning. I do think several of them agreed to wait and walk out together but it wasn't with store security or anything like that.
It's also a relief that no one was injured. Most of the time it's just some low life out for a few bucks who do these things and probably won't hurt anyone...but there is always that chance they will. It's a crazy world! |

if it don't happen in beckley forget it, they use to cover local things good, maybe they need those people back
