Sounds like to me bluefield doesnt want any businesses in their city, you got kroger that shut down. The city council they are not getting off their sorry asses to put anything in that emty building and theres other empty buildings through out the city and empty lots and they arent atempting to having businesses build in the city too. Now gonna have Appalachian tire going out of business, that building will probly sit there and end up detereate like buildings in the past. Everyone needs to vote out the sorry ass city councel morons on the next election and start from scratch. Then maybe get something done about bringing in new businesses in Bluefield.

The Kroger building tie up IS FOOD CITY'S FAULT. Bluefield needs a grocery in there and it is a good location for one on bus line etc but they tied up the lease and are not going to lease to another grocer.
I will agree Bluefield needs leadership NEW leadership and NEW BLOOD. The "backward thinking" or lack of thinking of the present board is deplorable and has hurt Bluefield a lot.The downtown looks better appearance wise than it ever has BUT we need to do as Princeton and Bluefield Va have and open our eyes and SEE the growth HAS TO BE out Cumberland rd( around & near 460 by pass)out to and on John Nash near I77 where the traffic and access to highways and people is located.

Oh stop your crying. You can hold your breath and blame Food City til your blue in the face but how is that working for ya?

If someone (grants) truly wanted to open a grocery store....they would build one.

Bluefield is dying...store or no store and that's not Food City's fault. You idiot.

Saw where Greg S. made the statement that other stores who deal in this type work can pick up Applacian Tires business with no problems. This just shows what the city officials are concerned with passing the buck, what about those 6-8 people who now have NO JOB TO SUPPORT THEIR FAMILIES (not mentioned). It seems their concerns is having bldgs occupied but to hell with the working peoples well being. These little mom and pops stores is not going to revitalize the downtown section of Blfd now or never, just accept reality downtown Blfd days have come and gone. But in the days it was awesome. Now need to concentrate on John Nash and start over.

You are stupid, the lawyer Lilly in Princeton is the one who leased the building and would not do repairs so Kroger left and they did not lease to another grocery store.

This comes from Obama's War on Coal. The bulk of their business was coal related. Keep voting for these dumba$$es and see what you get.
