Bluefield, W.Va.(WVVA) A Bluefield, W.Va. police officer has just been arrested for activities while off duty.

According to Princeton Chief of Police H.L. Harmon, Officer Daniel Lambert of the Bluefield, W.Va. Police Department was arrested on unlawful assault charges around 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. The arrest stems from an incident that allegedly occurred over the weekend.

Authorities say Lambert was involved in an incident at an intersection in Princeton which led to his arrest.

A Hinton, W.Va. police officer was also allegedly involved in the incident, but his name is not being released at this time as charges have not been filed.

Princeton police are interviewing witnesses at this time in relation to the alleged crime.

WVVA.com will update this story as more details are released.

This, too, shall be swept under the rug. Those guys are in trouble all the time. Didn't one of them get a DUI at Concord a couple years back? Never heard anything else about that either.

At least this one may get what he deserves, i think Princeton will take care of him, they all think that they can pull stupid shit all the time...i wonder when the police leaving the local bars lit off their asses are going to get their DUIs..if it dont happen i wonder who i can report it too.

so have any of you guys ever been in trouble? I think what the man did was wrong but people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones. all of us have done something at sometime to be arrested we either got caught or didnt. simple as that. the police are an easy target especially for people that commit crimes themselves and want to run their mouth. statistically there are 1 out of every 3 drivers on the road that are either drunk or high. and if any of you say you have never drove after having any alcohol is a liar. lets fess up to our shortcomings before we hang others. i my self have drove after having a few. any my question to buck cherrie is how do you know princton will take care of him? are youa policeman in princton that prides him or herself on arresting policeman? second, how have you seen them leaving the bar "lit?" were you at the bar drunk your dang self? exactly! if everyone got what they deserved then we would all be in jail.

i agree with sandra. i dont know whats going on with the policeman but i know i have spoke with many of them quite often. I have gotten speeding tickets from them to. He gave me a break. Officer Murray pulled me over for speeding 2 times and let me go with a verbal warning both times because i was late for work. I hope i never put him in the position to pull me over a 3rd time because like he said i will def. get a ticket. what im saying is these guys are people to. they mess up. I dont think they deserve extra media attention and to be crucified. Lets ponder on something here. The director at the Wade Center was caught looking at child porn and nothing is on the news and nothing was in the paper. I mean wow come on. Do you guys not see the problem here?

I am so glad that someone finally sees this has happened.......that wade center thing is more than that and it has been hushed totally, what went on with that individual is really serious and yet it has been totally hushed up- by the media.

I guess what I am saying is it is about time things were equal here.. a lot of..people in Bluefield and the area know what went on and yet there is no mention of it at all.Yet they plastered John Wellman all over the media when he got caught.
I am not trying to defend anyone but this is not right......why totally crucify one person and hide the dirty deeds of another.Wrong is wrong and HIDING it does not make it right.Truth is truth and lying to the public about it does not make it true.

Just FYI that officer was publicly arrested, publicly charged , and made a deal to keep his job after a 6 month suspension without pay and alcohol classes. NOW, when was the last time a normal citizen lost half a years pay and took alcohol classes over a 1st offense DUI? Get your facts right before you open your mouths. Cops are people too but there punishments are not equal to the the average citizen. Just because the public does not hear about the punishments does not mean it did not happen.

Yes, I've driven home a little tipsy. However, at no time during that drive home did I stop my car, get out, approach a random vehicle and begin a confrontation where I pepper sprayed someone and proceeded to beat them with beer bottles and god knows what else.

Was the director of the Wade Center arrested? The answer is no. So why would it be on the news?

most of the cops in blfd r crooked anyways...there r very few that do their job and yes i feel that they should get what they deserve because u see cops speeding and everything else just because they feel they r the law and no1 will punish them and they r here to protect and serve and i only know of a couple officers who honestly do that and as far as the wade center director leave that up to the police u r defending obviously if nothing has been done then they cant prove anything and any1 who knows him would know that is completely out of his character and u all need to stop bashing him and everyone else and step back and look at ur own lives and problems b4 u start judging anyone else.

Be more specific, who has gotten fired? The director of the Wade Center, the officer that got the dui at Concord years ago or the officer that was arrested the other night?
