My wife and I homeschool. Check out Hearth homeschool group. If you do a google search you should be able to find it. They are a great group.

Are there any others (if anyone knows)?? Not knocking those that choose to, but I am not looking for a christian based group. My children are younger and I'm more or less merely seeking some playgroup round-ups and such. Thanks!

Hi there...I am Mr_Sagacity's wife.
I am not aware of any other home school groups out there.

We have a Co-Op that is a branch of HEARTH. It is still Christian based but we do activities together every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Ages range from 6months to around 10 yrs old. If you are interested send me a message and I will have someone get in contact with you.

I am a new homeschooler in Bluefield area. My oldest son is home-schooled. He is 11. I also have a 6 year old and an younger son. My middle son is still in public school at least untill the end of 2nd grade. Then he will mostly be a home school student too. What are the ages of your children? Im also looking for homeschool students to socialize my boys with.

Homeschool Mom:
I have two daughters. My oldest turns six next month; finishing up kindergarten at a private school this year, but they do not have any additional grades. And, my youngest turns 3 in April; so a bit too young to be 'worried' about at this time. I would love to try and socialize my girls some, so if your interested perhaps we can chat some and then go from there. What is the best way to exchange info?

Appalachian Orchard:
Thanks for the offer, but I'm declining at this time. I appreciate the offer.:)

But I totally understand your pause. I rarely visit this site :)

Homeschool groups, "charter" groups or "co-ops" are against the WVDOE. I would advise those who are operating under such circumstances to disasemble asap before the state begins an investigation. Additionally, those involved in such a group could be held accountable for educational neglect or fiscal liabilities within the county they reside. Note that individually homeschooling is allowed as well as standard religious schools; however, any two or more families schooling their children together can be held accountable as the referenced illegal groups above.

Would you be so kind to point out where you get this information from?

fyi doesn't know what they are talking about, we still live in america not in a comunist state. most homeschool families also are members of homeschool legal defense which help fight off school districts that don't know or try to mis inforce the law. and to percey most homeschool moms are very responsible and sacrfice to homeschool their kids. most home school kids score higher on standardized tests. now before the public school people even get started, i know there are good public schools and good teachers. but there are also bad teachers, if you went to public school like i did, you remember those bad teachers you had. there are also people that should not homeschool there children. unless you are very dedicated and willing to sacrfice you should not homeschool. it's not for everyone! do whats best for your kids, and lets all thank GOD we live in a country where we have to decide what we believe is best for our kids!

This thread is from 2011. Are you honestly expecting a response?
From the way you type to your lack of critical thinking, I seriously have my doubts that you could do a better job at teaching your children anything other than how to be an enormous retard.

They responded, but not to the question of how they "r" slackers, which was the entire point.
You must be one of those home schooled retards they were talking about. You almost had an independent thought, but the train never managed to depart the station.
Oh well, better luck next time.
