So let me get this straight: they're in control of a city-owned property, yet citizens of the city have no ability to get them fired? It would seem that what they do is akin to holding a public office. They certainly serve the public by managing that building, a public property. So who is responsible for their appointment, and who has the power to dismiss them?
These under the table underhanded-crooked-sinister people every one need to go....they need to be PUBLICLY EXPOSED for their DIRTY UNDERHANDED DEEDS.....maybe this will blow up enough to disgrace them-the pitiful disgrace they are...someone had to set this up-EVERY HEAD needs to roll....a clean slate a clean house is called for.

I am not sure how anything can be done...TOPIX is the only truth in Bluefield...the media-paper and tv both cannot be counted on for the truth and some of those powers that be are always "seeing to it" that the real truth is never printed or aired.....to cover their evil-crooked-sinister ways.

In the other thread, my question was answered: they're a non-profit organization with whom the city has a contract to allow them to manage the building.

Well, I say it's about time that contract EXPIRES. The only way to do that is to back new politicians who will agree to put this on their agenda, or convince the ones in power that they soon won't be unless they do something about this!

This idea IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST there needs to be a focus on getting every one of the current city board out and hopefully replacing them with a lot better people.

The BIG PROBLEM: how much more can and will they ruin-destroy or stack with incapable corrupt people before they can be voted out AND will they be able to be voted out?

We can't give up. The city officials read this. We can't let it die. If they refuse to listen, the next elction is next spring! Either they listen or go!

That's exactly right. And if they think I'm blowing steam, I welcome them to call my bluff. You'll see the most well-organized political campaign ever to hit Bluefield, and I'll get people to see why they should care!

I sure hope so -this nonsense needs to be halted both that city board and the "alliance" that is so corruptly stacked so no one can end or lessen their grip and control.Bluefield needs CHANGE,every bit of the "good old boys" system (now or past) needs to be moved out and all has beens and formers OUT and not elected or re elected on anything.

The very real problem is just how much non -repairable damage will they do before they are out-and can we actually get them (and their imbedded system) out of power?

What, exactly, are these hostage-taking board thugs' demands?? What needs to happen for Gary to stay?

The "alliance board" that runs the arts center is the problem seems like they have stacked the board with their friends and fellow church members so no one can make a difference-they control it all.
Hope the city board will investigate their agreement with this alliance and try to "remove them all" who knows what will take place seems like they are and have been causing many problems with other tenants that are just now being brought out.
The absolute best thing would be (if possible) for the city to end the contract with said board and get a TOTALLY new group to manage and run the center.
There seen to have been problems with no accountability and mis management of funds that have led to not having enough operating funds and so they said they could not support Gary's art center.
For those that-like yourself are wondering ,wouldn't it be GREAT if the ACTUAL truth were to be known.I do not know if you knoe Gary but if you could talk with him I believe he could shed a lot of light on things.

What seems to be apparent here is, poetically speaking, the lack of leadership & accountability is responsible for this gaping wound. Only decisive measures & immediate corrective action is all we can hope for. Maybe then, we can rejoice for a brighter day with those that not only affect positive change, but for those of us who give a sh*t and support them. The artists have spoken in writing, "We Just Want You To Be Happy".

Someone HAS to know what they're demanding Gary Bowling's House of Art do if they want to save the gallery.

How can we save it if we don't know the goal!? Or, are they going to kill the hostage (the gallery) no matter what anyone does to appease them?

Read through some of the posts, sift through the opinions and rants, and you will find that the objective here is greed. The alliance is exercising its "power" to have the house of art move or pay. Bartering no longer applies apparently.

Hey everybody--go read the thread, "Should the Alliance for the arts be Disbanded?" It looks like the truth may come out after all! A lot of us sure hope so!

I think the question is: HOW MUCH MUST BE PAID TO SAVE THE GALLERY?

I'm willing to start a fundraising effort, but I need to know the goal.

I heard as well 1,000 HOWEVER before one dime goes into this mess the ENTIRE BOARD NEEDS TO BE BOOTED OUT AND THE WHOLE MESS BROUGHT TO JUSTICE...and let the heads fall where they may...things are covered up too much to allow one cent more to go to this "alliances" dishonest mismanagement.

Well, I'm waiting to hear back from someone who has direct contact with the board, so we'll see.

Whatever the demand is, it should be "honor the agreement you had initially". And unless there was a clear, in writing "you will pay us X dollars per month" thing that was signed, it seems like they're just making it up as they go!

More than likely they are...crooked and dishonest from the core-I would put NOTHING PAST THEM!

IF there was an agreement with specified rents etc then it should never have been let go for years but dealt with in a NORMAL BUSINESS FASHION and try to work out something or do whatever is required in a timely fashion.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Libra

Is a relationship getting dull and predictable? If so, it's time to inject some spontaneity into it, preferably by doing things on the spur of the moment and taking a few risks. Maybe you should go out for a meal for a change. There could also be a surprise in store when you realize you're attracted to someone who's totally different from your usual type.
