could someone explain to me why bluefield state doesn't have any desire to become competitive in athletics??? i am an ex college baseball player now coaching (baseball and football) at the middle school and high school levels and i am also working part time for a college baseball program. i have applied for several coaching positions there and haven't even gotten an interview....i have actually asked about and discussed with several people within the school about them possibly making some coaching changes but nothing ever came of it....i know that the baseball team in particular hasn't had but maybe two or three winning records in the last 20 years or so......on top of that, they easily let many area players go to other colleges without even trying to recruit them. i know this for a fact because i recruited and signed several area players to attend another school this past year......why do they seem content with losing year in and year out when so much money and support can be generated through college athletics????

Well, first off not many athletes go and continue their athletic careers at Bluefield State. Secondly, I know for a fact that some sports do not even give scholarships- they go off of financial aid- so why would an athlete go to school where he or she is going to have to take out loans in order to go to school? Most of the coaches that are there have been there for years and won't retire any time soon. Good luck!

you are right about the athletes not staying with BSC, i personally know several former BSC baseball players who quit or transferred from being frustrated with the lack of dedication to winning at BSC......you would be suprised how many area athletes who would love to stay close to home and play at BSC. i know for myself the location of schools played a big part in my decision.......as i mentioned i recruited several area players this past spring/summer who mentioned attending BSC to stay close to home but they never recieved any interest from BSC, which made it that much easier for me to sign them.......i think it is a shame that someone like myself cant even get an interview with them!!!

Gotta say jay roof I agree with you. I'm from SC and went and played 3 years at Bluefield State. It was pretty disheartning when I got there and discovered that my high school conditioning program was 1000 times tougher than it was in colleg(seeing as how there is no conditioning program at BSC). I can't tell you how many times I saw players with better arms, that get a better jump on the ball, with a batting average .200 siting for another one of coaches "favorites"

Well it probably doesn't help that the Athletics director sits on his fat butt all day collecting a paycheck for NO WORK. But then again that is how BSC works. Most of the employees do nothing to earn their paycheck (not even show up most days). I would almost guarantee you call 10 numbers at random and get 8 voice mails. That college is a damn shame

The Greek organizations are in the starting stages of attempting to bring football back to BSC. We are trying to bring all Greek organizations together right now to back a petition in the school to see if the students really want football back in the college. Just talking to people right now it appearing that 100% of students talked to want football in the school and 85% of males talked to would like to play. There are several factors in this that we are coming up against, for example where would we play? How are we to pay for this? Etc. If anybody has any insight to this or would like to help us with bringing football back to BSC please contact me!!
Not only do we believe that football back in this area would benefit the school (by enrollment increasing) but also the community that is dying around us. So please if you have anything POSITIVE to add that could help us, it would be greatly appreciated!

Are you bragging about a .200 average?LOL Obviously you don't know crap about baseball. By the way I know who you are, and you were terrible. When you did play, which wasnt much. How many times did you strike out? LOL!

first of all out of the 20 years and only a couple winning seasons in those 20 years, i was on one of those teams, they had a bunch of talent...unlike the bums i've seen the last few years....so don't talk smack about another player when your teams win about 30 percent of your games, IF THAT year after year.

as matter of fact the recruiting class coming in are winners and should within a year turn things around. several transfers and a couple really good freshman will surprise some of you this year. i thinkthe coach stepped up to the plate and got some commitments from out of state from really good competive programs. look for the roster when released.

Maybe they should turn athletics over to Christian in HR, her FAT ASS thinks she runs everything else at BSC. Hopefully when Walker leaves the next Prez will put her in her place. She acts as if she's the queen in the hive, and she's no more than a TURD in a pond.

BSC EQUALS JOKE!

Use to play ball there and definitely left after one year. The girls ball team is horrible and the guys too. The only thing that BSC is good at is men's tennis and that shit is just sad cause who gives a damn about tennis lol

Weese Jones killed sports at BSC. He had such a terrible record at State that no one wanted to come there.

Don't forget about Ergies boy Gary Brown he was as bad as Wee-Cee and talked like he had a mouth full of shit. Don't forget the Gene Banks fiasco, just alot of BADDDDD decision by the great AD, who should of been led out the behind WJ and GB.
