I wish I knew who did this act of vicious crime I'd turn them in and collect the money and give it to the families even if it was alittle to each one of them, I'd do it.
They need to catch them and make them fix and clean up the cemetary and march them down Main St in Waynesboro so everyone can see them. And if they are under age, publish their names anyhow.

YOU GO!!! I live very close to Burns Hill--probably go see and just say a prayer.

My mother has been sleeping on a big hill overlooking I-75 for 35 years. When I stood there as a child, there was a maple tree two feet tall and the Four Gospels' Statues. The tree is now huge and you can't see the statues from the gravesite anymore. Her grave is in Knoxville, TN.

When I think of the shock, loss and immeasurable grief that day in 1972 and I think of the Burns Hill Families today--I SEE RED.

IF, anyone has a conscience that did this, may they live in remorse the rest of their life.

I don't think I could get my self-respect back, ever, if I was a part of this unspeakable crime.

Whoever it is, they better be punished to the fullest extent.

It is a sad thing when you have to destroy things like this, whether it be a child or not. I wish somehow while they were doing this, something weird would happen, to scare the &*!! out of them. Maybe as punishment, they should be left all alone in the graveyard for a full night sitting at one of the sites they destroyed. They wouldn`t be as brave if they were all alone.

What punishment fits this crime? Stealing -cut off their hands, slander - cut out their tongue, adultery - cut off, well you get the point. My bet it was teenagers that should have been somewhere else. I don't understand, we're all going to end up in a graveyard. Why do they want to go there when they don't have to? If they had a conscience, they wouldn't have done this to begin with. Where in our educational system is "conscience" taught?

Since when is the educational system responsible for conscience...the system is not the parent. It begins at HOME!

I am so sorry for the families of the ones destroyed. I would have been heart broken to see my Shanes messed up.

I hope they catch those that did it and make them pay for it. I have a feeling its kids and make sure their moms and dad get a few for not watching them better.

Probably some teenager Satanic cult crap.$500,000 is a LOT of damage and many of the old stones can't be replaced. What's the world coming to?

I'm sure there are sympathic bleeding hearts out there that feel bad for the person that did this... They might think this or that did not help with counciling or intervention at an early age...What I have to say is that you pathetic bleeding hearts are the ones responsible for this type of act. There is way too much pansy possy footing around. People know the judicial system in a joke. No one is held accountable for their actions anymore. Heck you can turn abusive parents in for neglect and they receive no discipline they only get more assistance to blow away. There is no fear anymore of penalties for doing something wrong. Yep, most likely this is a result of some parent with a lack of accountability for their kids but like I said the system supports laziness and taxes the heck out of workers to support scum. Find these scum bags and drop them off in the middle of a Mid East desert. Live in shame the rest of your lives scumbags for what you did.

I wasn't just referring to grades 1 through 12 as our "educational system" as I assume you thought I was. I also include what we teach our children before they enter the formal system. Obviously these morons were not taught to have a conscience. Shame on them.

Thank you for your clarification. You are right...absolutely no conscience nor respect. I am sure they will pay for their crime sooner or later. If I were them, I would hope for sooner.

With any luck, they'll brag about their escapades to the wrong person who could really use the reward money and that person will have a conscience. For a $500,000 crime, maybe the reward should be a bit higher but I guess as everywhere else, the crime solvers are trying to cut their costs as well.

see,s like a smal reward for such a terrible event. If somebody stole $500k from a bank, I bet the reward would be a lot higher. i think everyone that responds to this should put up $$$ towards increasing the reward...any takers??

How about you Bucky, put your money where you mouth is. It would be great if people would pull together to put a stop to this kind of sick behavior.
As far as Crime Solvers go, they are a non-profit group with only volunteers who manage things. The money for rewards comes from donations from the public and as we all know~~people love to hold on to their money. With the amount of crimes going on, it is a wonder that they have any money left for rewards.
So Bucky ~~ I guess you will be the first to give a tax-deductable donation to help find these creeps who did this sick act!!! And who knows, maybe others will to. The more money to tease a snitch with, the quicker they will give up the creeps

i drove past a church on mentzer gap road the other day and saw someone had spray painted an anarchy symbol on the front door and front step. Behind it is a shed and they spray painted " I'm am the devil and I am here to do the devil's work"

It's not the same church is it?

It is sad that people would do these kinds of things to a church or cemetary. Even if you don't agree with what they practice at the church. Head stones cost a fortune now and some of those were old. They wont be able to replace them. The ruined a part of history. Its a sad world we live in.

How's this for an alternative, instead of "Joe Citizen" anteing up the reward money, why not let the criminals provide the dollars. Where do the greenbacks go when a drug bust is made and cash, weapons, and drugs are confiscated? I'm guessing the drugs and guns are destroyed at some later time, but where does the all of drug money go? I realize some of it may be used by undercover agents to make "buys", but what about the rest? Why not designate a certain percentage of confiscated cash to go toward funding Crime Solvers?

I forgot to add that part of the criminal's fine could also be designated to funding Crime Solvers.
