Yes, we are to forgive. But that does not mean that people are to be free from the consequences of their actions. There is nothing unchristian in expecting people to be held responsible for the choices they make. Forgiveness is an attitude of the heart and frankly is more for the good of the one doing the forgiving. You can not move forward if your heart is full of hate. I cannot even begin to imagine what the past 15 months have been like for that family. This case is so very tragic and I hurt for both families involved, but given the information we do have, Jake must be held accountable and there must be serious punishment involved. Throw away the key - absolutely not. But one life was ended and five others were changed forever - there must be punishment - but I am grateful that I will not be responsible for making the decision on what is appropriate.
I agree with you but from my personal research the state of ga is trying to give this kid 76 years in prison and I know cases where a person intentionally shot another person and only got 20 and even 10 and this situation was a tragic accident so yes the kid deserves prison time but however not 76 years worth and my personal opinion 10-15

Most people in the legal system around here feel that if found quilty the Lee boy will not serve more than 24 to 36 months even if he gets 5 or more years.

I live around here, and i know all about the situation. I personally dont know the 16 years old family, but you see the sentence they have on him right now is way to strict and ridiculous, and do u have a personal problem with this 16 year old??? it really seems that you do have a personal problem with this kids family

Have i angered the good faith hearted christian????? i know everything that i am talking about, unlike you, i live in Fannin County, i have lived here for 43 years, and i do judge people on how they post, because u are nothing more than a coward behind a computer for all i know. You want to stir shit up, why else would you create a third forum about a 16 year old, you are to old to be bullying underage kids. If you have a problem keep to yourself, i have kept my mouth (figurativly) shut for over a year and half. I dont know the Johnsons, nor the 16 year old family, but this shit needs to die down, let the justice system take care of and shut the FUCK up

Ur a typical fake Christian I am here because apparently this kid is very popular on here and it pains me to read 4000 comments of immature adults bullying a 16 year old I don't know the kid either so take the advice of your bible and treat your neighbor as thyself and
Ps. I do have a child I tell him I will support him no matter what happens but he will be responsible as well so how do you know how the 16 year family and the 16 year old feels you don't know shit so don't speak for someone when u have no idea they feel I don't know how they feel but you just want to stir shit up
"Christian" and "bible" and "shit" all in the same sentence. I want to go to your church. Where is it? By the way, punctuation is your friend....please use it!

I honestly do not attend church. I also think God cares about curse words as long as his name is not taken invain. Finally I apologize about the grammar, it's hard to punctuate on a iPhone.

I too live in fannin county and I was there the night the wreak happened. I was also in chattanooga with the Johnsons for over a week, watched them suffer from what had happened and their children also. Now how do you explain to a child why someone was messed up on drugs or inhalants dont get punished for doing what he did, I also know that he was running from the law when he hit the back of the Johnsons van, that alone should have gotten him locked away. Personally I do not know Jake Lee but my daughter does, and I do think the law should make an example of him, but I guess his family has enough money to buy him out of this, if it get to court before January when our new DA takes office.

Now Get A Life it sounds to me like you are the one full of shit and that you need to GET A LIFE

My limited experience with the court in Fannin county tells me their fondest hope is that if the attorneys and judge can postpone the case long enough the litigants will die, lose interest, or move away.

My dear Drama Queen, please take notice that his criminal case will be referred to as "State of GA vs. Jacob Lee" . That means the crime was committed against all GA citizens, not just the Johnson family. So, you are dead wrong in your claim that we have no reason to be following this situation.
This is not going to go away.
A very good point. Then fine - try the case in Chatham County (Savannah) or Lowndes County (Valdosta) where all the Drama Queens like everyone on this site isn't so emotionally invested in one outcome versus the other, people don't know the people involved and there isn't all the small town B.S. and drama that people oh so love! People in Fannin can follow to their hearts content without causing undue influence on the outcome. The facts and impartial justice, and not a lynch mob will determine the facts. Its amazing how something like this gets talked about 24/7 in a place like BR, but many tragic situations that happen elsewhere aren't beaten like a dead horse. Nobody will forget the situation, and the accused will have his day in court. IT just needs to be in Superior Court and not the "Court of Topix" - what a joke!

Well I live in palm bay florida where the Johnsons live. My niece used to dance with little Hannah. My brother is buried next to hannah. I have seen her family sitting in the cemetary. One thing I know is tjis family needs justice. No it wont bring hannah back or give owen his life back they way it was. I hope this young man is held responsible for his actions. He needs to pay for this. Hopefully his familys money wont get him out of this...

Well ether rich feel they are above the law. Take all the money and let justice prevail. The attitude of many posts show me one thing, you must be his sister. It all goes back to you reap what you sow. God is no mocked.
He should aw to do he time for the blood all over his hands. But of course, money can divert those feelings and rewarding bad behavior. Seems like spacing he rid and spoiling the child, brought many heartaches and tears, to
Two family's, tough love. You deserve what you get. God I've you he strength to serve you time.
And when you have May out have a new start, that is glorifying to your creator.of course neither mother will ever have the same life. May God comfort the Johnson family and the parents of a very spoiled child. Who is a monster and shows no remorse, you would think he would have gone into a hospital , because when the trial and photos are presented, he will not have the luxury of how to cope with his new life in prison.
No jet skis there or new trucks. Wake up and help him prepare. Whole family will need counseling.
Where is the education level of this family?PTSD is coming on more to you all like the Johnson's have everyday.
Can you buy blood off your hands? I think not. Wait till your eyes behold the photos of Dear Hannah, and this family on trial day. You have a heart, yet? Or are you so proud, and hard this is not criminal?
Murder struck , it leaves scars that makes your heart bleed everyday.
Mistakes kids make are Learning curves, crimes are Intentional. Obey the laws of the land.
That's what we teach our children. Now filthy rich obey no one, and everyone has to obey them.

Visiting Ellijay this week and while searching about Blue Ridge came across this story. I am from Atlanta and a Christian. While we are called to forgive, we are also told to render unto Ceasar what is his... in this case the people of the state of Georgia. I was shocked to learn at 2.5 years later, Jacob Robert Lee is not yet in prison for his crime.
Yes he deserves forgiveness, but he likewise must pay the price for what he did.
His church, Blue Ridge UMC should be absolutely ashamed for running his photo as a graduate in June 2012 and talking highly of all his big plans to go to Young Harris ( http://www.brumc.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/... ). They should be rallying around him and supporting him WHILE HE IS IN JAIL. Loving him and helping him through the penalty he so definitely deserves.
As a Georgia native, I am sickened that this backwater, redneck way of running a county is still in play. No justice for anyone in Fannin Co.
I am happy to have read that young Owen is doing well and the that preborn baby was born safely after the accident. I do pray the Johnson family will find Christ as well and that they will also receive closure on this matter.
To Jacob's family: SHAME ON YOU. You should be encouraging him to be a man and do the right thing, not letting him hide behind your wallet. He made a mistake, but mistakes have consequences. He is not a man and by your actions, his father is no man either, but a cowering ingrate.
There should be no trial. Jacob should negotiate a deal and go to jail.

I wasn't even going to comment on this in hopes that it would just get lost for lack of activity/comments. Obviously, everyone on here missed the 2nd comment...the Johnson's didn't start this thread, it is a C&P from Ms. Johnson's personal blog! Yes, a blog is on the www, but I don't believe she would approve of the use of her writings & way of "coping" w/this tragedy to be used in this way!

Christ also taught us to look deep WITHIN ourselves to find love & compassion. The "church" however, has distorted this teaching & has us looking for a great Santa Clause in the sky ready to give us anything we ask for. Nothing can be done to bring little Hannah back & unfortunately, unless "tptb" & the ruler of this world,(I'm sure all you "Christians" know who that is.) Stop suppressing the knowledge of others b/c curing things don't guarantee profits, then little Owen won't be able(in our eyes) to live a life.

Maybe we all need to stop looking up for the great "genie in the sky" & do as Christ commanded....if we are too busy looking up then we don't see the sufferings of our neighbors.
