This is awful that someone would kill our wildlife for no reason.

The newspaper reported that it happened at the old State Farmer's Market there in Blue Ridge on the 9th of October. He was just a 25 pound baby cub sleeping in a tree.

That could have been anyone, pretty sick to just kill a baby animal of any kind.

Friggin' S.O.B.'s .... would love to stick my shotgun to their faces. Same thing happened in a nice large wooded subdivision in Ellijay. Mama bear was in a yard with her 3 cubs ... a good ole boy stopped his truck, pulled out his rifle, killed Mama bear and drove off. The cubs cried and wailed, then stayed at the mothers side. Sickening to me.

Well whoever done it shot the bear with bbs and it suffered before shooting it with a 22 quite a few times someone should get a harsh punishment for this also I think if someone would of called animal control or the rangers to say it was there so they could of took it back to the woods so this wouldnt of happened. Since this has happened though I believe they should get in alot of trouble for it!

The Lord says vengeance will be His, I believe this to include abusers of any kind be it child, spouse, and animal. They'll get theirs. We live in the mountains and we need to respect the precious creatures who call this place their home.

Would be nice if the mama bear WOULD rip the face off of whoever committed such a redneck crime!! I seriously doubt a CUB in a tree was ripping anyone's face off! DNR needs to get a hold of these deliverence inbred hillbillies. No respect for animals or life. Absolutely abhorrent!!! Karma is a B([email protected]

Just how many times have you seen a baby bear cub rip off someone's face ?? He was merely sleeping at 2 am in a tall tree and would probably be back in his woods before daylight. Some people and their ideas about wildlife...Absolutly dumb.

H8 is a troll. If he bothers to watch some of us here and learn he might be fun to have around eventually.

We certainly don't need useful information! I just meant that your trolling could use a little work. We could all learn a thing or two from BRONKO, the slimy degenerate snake-handler.

EXCUSE ME!!!!!! I was there the night the bear was shot I left about 30 min before the D.N.R said it was shot and I MYSELF called D....
NR to see if they could help the bear, they told me it was hunting season and that it would be ""unfair"" to trap the bear and move it to another location, the cityu police brought a trap out we filled it with grapes and apples to try to get it moved so it WOULD NOT be hurt... I had the game warden talk to me and several others,my comment to him was"" if you had came out last night when I called you would not be doing this today and that baby bear would still be alive"" so yeah the stupid things people do run even into the government!!!!!

well who shot him, the police or a resident? Why were they trying to trap him if he had already been killed? I guess I don't understand this story.

he was in a tree at the farmers market, they were trying to trap him to take him away from the farmers market and keep him from doing any damage, and obviously he was alive when they were trying to trap him and D.N.R. did not respond to help so the little guy was killed and left on the roadside... it was a resident that shot him the police officers were trying there best within the law to help get him out of the tree and to a safe haven... But,that never happened..soooooo very sad...

Do they have the name of who shot him and are they going to arrest him? I know somebody around there saw something going on and knows who did that very bad deed,.........shame on those who do not come forward.

If you see a bear that has been shot and dumped, call the DNR Poaching Hotline at 1-800-241-4113. You can remain anonymous. Also call your local ranger. You can find the contact information for your ranger on the GA DNR web site. There is a lot of bear poaching going on in North Georgia and in the Blue Ridge, GA, area and the DNR rangers do investigate and try to find the killers. Six bear poachers were convicted this year.

Whoever killed the baby bear cub in Blue Ridge is probably a habitual poacher. If anyone knows who this poacher is, report him to the Poaching Hotline.

Earlier I said six poachers had been convicted this year. It was four. Five were arrested and charged, and four pled guilty.
