With all the current talk about obesity -- how Americans are getting fatter and fatter -- I think Home Eonomics needs to be put back in our schools. The girls of today are the homemakers of tomorrow. Give them the tools they need to plan and serve balanced and healthy meals.

Does anyone have any thougths on this?

I agree totally. Wish they could also start a class on common sense and one on how to control your money and how you do not have to spend it before you get it on cell phones and cars for your kids and anything at Walmart. When your idea of savings is what you receive from the IRS in the way of earned income ( one of the best oxymorons I have ever heard)you are just in big trouble and need help bad.

I agree. Also there needs to be lifestyle changes. Somehow we need to get ourselves and our children away from in front of computer screen and outside doing something.

As far as H E, when did it go away and why? At FCHS Mrs. Jones and Miss Doty did a great job. Does anyone know anyone on the school board?

Hi I think boy's should take home economics also. With women working outside the house a man needs to help out.. I know a lot of men will disagree HOWEVER I believe if a man and a women share the responsibility of children it serves as an example of team work. With the divorce rate so high It would also help men out to know how to take care of their children and not just take them out every weekend for fat fast food. I also think women should take shop etc. learn how to do things around the house. I told my son who is away at college I will not do his laundry while he is away Do not bring it home!!! And he has learned to cook his own meals and guess what, when he comes home on weekends he is the first to get up and say" I will do the dishes mom" I am a very proud mom

The young ladies today don't seem to care much about cooking or taking care of a proper home. And that's not directed at local girls, that's pretty much a large number of young women in this country these days.

HI Foster Stephen, I think most women are busy working, helping with homework, taking care of kids that etc. taking care of a HOUSE and cooking is at the bottom of the list Our kids always must come first. Years ago women did not work outside of the home because thinks were a lot less expensive. Now it takes two incomes to make ends meet. Couples who have children need to work together to share household duties as well as childcare the world has changed and old ideas need to change also.
